The most expensive thing I ever lost was myself.

For 36 years, I paid for unhealed pain with my body, my peace, my choices, my time, and pieces of myself I had no idea how to protect. My life was messy, toxic, and chaotic, and if I am being completely honest, I was often my own worst enemy.

The Currency of HER is symbolic because currency is anything we exchange for something else. Women exchange their energy every day. We spend it on relationships, survival, approval, fear, ambition, healing, and sometimes on people and places that leave us spiritually bankrupt. I know because I did it for most of my life.

Trust me, this was not some Pinterest board inspired healing journey. Addiction had its hands around my throat for longer than I'd like to admit, and I almost died, literally, before I began to remember who actually I am. I once believed death would have its way with me decades ago but now, at 49 years young, I am starting again, and that is a BIG blessing indeed. One I will never take for granted again.

This book represents the moment I stopped treating my energy like it was free, my purpose like it was optional, and my life like it was disposable. It is about understanding that before the money, the titles, the recognition, or anything else the world calls valuable, the real currency has always been HER.

I did not write this book because I have everything figured out. I wrote it because I have paid a very high price to become the woman I am today, and I refuse to waste what it cost me to get here.

This book came from lived experience, not theory.
I left the commercialized s*x industry with four kids, a 36-year addiction, not a dime to my name, & no Plan B; just the terrifying realization that if I didn’t change my mind, I was going to lose my life.

Most women were never taught how to think powerfully about themselves, money, love, boundaries, or their own potential. We were taught survival, performance, people pleasing, & how to settle gracefully while quietly abandoning ourselves in the process.

I wrote *The Currency of HER* because I am tired of watching women normalize emotional exhaustion, low standards, financial struggle, self betrayal, trauma bonds, & relationships that slowly drain the life out of them while calling it “love,” “loyalty,” or “just being a good woman.”

This isn’t another 'self-help' book full of empty motivation or empowerment quotes meant to temporarily hype you up. It’s the uncomfortable conversations, mindset shifts, truth, accountability, & perspective changes that force a woman to finally look at her life honestly.

Because once a woman changes the way she thinks, she changes what she tolerates.

The Currency of HER is officially available in stores!

Storytime... I spent decades living as the black sheep of the family, addicted to everything toxic; self-destructive, & familiar. I walked in liquid courage with my eyes wide shut into one bad decision after another. I abandoned myself over & over again, carrying trauma like it was my identity. There were seasons of my life when addiction had such a grip on me that even God couldn't convince me that I'd live to see 30 but here I am, 49 years young!

Today, I am a healing woman who lives one day at a time. A woman who makes decisions from a place of clarity instead of chaos, peace instead of pain, & intention instead of survival. I have a regulated nervous system, a focused mindset, & for the first time in my life, a deep & genuine love for myself. I am so damn proud of the woman who finally decided to choose herself!

Transformation hits different when it's no longer performative. It hits different when you've cradled yourself in the darkness, survived the consequences of your own choices, grieved the versions of yourself that kept you alive, & still found the courage to rebuild anyway.

To have my book sitting on the shelves of not one, but two inconic independent bookstores is something I do not take lightly. And to every woman reading this, let this be your reminder; your life is not over because you made destructive choices. I have sat across from women who call themselves broken, difficult, too much, or not enough. But when you get to the root & start peeling back the layers, you realize they weren't born believing those things about themselves; they adapted overtime. They became who they needed to become to survive environments that didn't feel safe, consistent, or emotionally secure.

I know this because I've lived it.

That's why protecting children & empowering women will never be separate conversations for me. One is prevention & the other is what happens when prevention never came. Every child is becoming someone. The question is, who are they learning they need to be in order to survive?

Sometimes the behaviours we judge the most are survival strategies that have been misunderstood for years. And I think we owe each other the courage to look deeper than what we see.

I wonder how many adult struggles started as childhood adaptations that nobody recognized for what they actually were.

One of the biggest lies trauma tells us is that what feels familiar must be safe.

That isn't because we're weak, it's because the brain is wired to recognize patterns long before it recognizes what's healthy. Many of us spend years trying to earn consistency from inconsistent people, believing that if we just love harder, give more, or become "enough," things will finally change. But healing begins when we stop chasing what hurt us & start paying attention to what it taught us.

Awareness is so powerful because it gives us a choice. A choice to respond differently. A choice to create new standards. A choice to stop confusing survival with connection.

The goal isn't to become someone new, the goal is to become familiar with the version of you that no longer settles for toxic chaos disguised as love.

If that version of you is sounding louder & louder these days, stay close. This is exactly why The Embody Her Community exists. Not for women pretending to have it all figured out, but for women courageous enough to speak their truth, challenge old patterns, & awaken the woman their past never saw coming.

What a year!!!

2025, I am grateful for you.

Whew, this year broke me all the way open. It forced me to meet the parts of myself I buried, & made me realize healing isn’t a glow-up, it’s a gut punch with grace. Old habits still try me sometimes, but now I know that’s not regression, it’s rewiring in progress. The blessings didn’t come DESPITE the pain, they came THROUGH it. Small wins, unexpected doors, divine connections, moments of support I once thought I didn’t deserve, that was God saying, “I’m not done with you, Angela.” And the gratitude I feel for that alone is beyond words.

Now, there are no resolutions, only intentions backed by boundaries & self-honesty. The new season starts the moment a woman decides fear & familiarity no longer get a vote. Whenever your new year begins, winter, spring, midnight, or a random Tuesday, walk in unapologetic af. No shrinking. No pretending. No performing. No second-guessing.

2025 was the year of shedding. The peeling back. The release. The uncomfortable clarity. 2026 is about embodiment & forward movement. Where self-trust finally outweighs what once felt familiar. You don’t evolve by replacing yourself, you evolve by choosing the truest parts of you over the bu****it that once had access.
