A real look at what care can look like at Pine Cone Health.

Swipe through to see the presenting concern, what our assessment found, and what the care plan looked like in practice.

Every child's path looks a little different, but the process stays the same: listen closely, assess thoroughly, and build a plan that fits their life.

This is what integrated pediatric care is meant to feel like: informed, unhurried, and built around your family 💚

If your teen’s anxiety has been on your mind since September, this is your sign to stop waiting.

It doesn’t always look like anxiety. Sometimes it looks like more time behind a closed door, a shorter fuse, or losing interest in things they used to love.

You don’t need to have it all figured out to reach out. An assessment is one conversation that brings clarity, not a big commitment.

If this has been sitting with you, trust that. We’re here in Edmonton whenever you’re ready to talk it through.

People hear "kids' massage" and picture something indulgent. It's not that.

It's teaching a child what it feels like to be safe, calm, and at home in their own body, so they carry that sense of safety with them everywhere else.

Our pediatric massage therapists in Edmonton work with kids on body awareness, nervous system regulation, and comfort with touch, all through experiences that feel genuinely good. For a lot of kids, that's a completely new relationship with their own body.

Curious what a session actually looks like? Send us a message, we're happy to walk you through it ☺️

We asked our team real questions. The voiceover had other plans...

This is what happens when Pine Cone staff try to answer with a straight face, Edmonton, meet the people behind the care (and the chaos) 💚

Did you know SLPs work on more than just talking? Social skills are a big part of what we do too. 💚

Reading social cues and holding a conversation aren't always intuitive, and that shows up for lots of different kids, on the spectrum or not.

We use Social Thinking® concepts to teach these skills explicitly: keeping a conversation going, taking turns, playing cooperatively. Not about "fixing," just giving kids the tools to feel confident. 🌲

One month into school and... nobody warned us about any of this. 💚

The mystery art project that came home and you genuinely have no idea what it is. The new best friend whose name you’ve heard 47 times but have never met. The sudden opinions about everything.

Turns out, starting school comes with a whole list of surprises, for kids and parents alike.

The good news? You’re only one month in. There is so much good stuff still ahead, and your kid is adjusting more than you might realize.

Did your child just start school for the first time this fall? Drop a comment and tell us the thing that surprised you most. We’d love to hear it. 🌲

Speech-language pathologists (SLPs) are involved in the prevention, identification, and treatment of communication and swallowing disorders. 🌲

Beyond direct sessions with your child, SLPs also provide counselling about communication and swallowing challenges, coach family members and caregivers, and help create supports at home and school.

It's never about "fixing" your child. It's about meeting them where they're at, through play, connection, and patience.

Not sure if it's the right fit? We're happy to talk it through before you book. 💚

September means new backpacks, new routines, and sometimes, new aches. 🌲

If your child has been complaining about sore shoulders, a stiff neck, or low back pain since school started, you're not imagining it. Heavy bags, long sitting stretches, and less movement can add up fast.

Our pediatric physio team assesses how your child moves, sits, and carries, then builds a plan that fits their age, their body, and their pace. No intensity. No scary equipment. Just gentle, targeted support that helps them feel good in their growing body. 💚

Back to school means backpacks and our physio team has a few things they want every parent to know.

Pediatrician groups like the National Safety Council recommend a backpack weight of no more than 10% of a child's body weight. Both straps should always be worn. The bag should sit close to the back, not hanging low. And if your child is complaining of back, neck, or shoulder pain after school, that's worth paying attention to.

Small adjustments now can prevent bigger issues down the road!

Our pediatric physio team is here if you have concerns. Book through the link in our bio.

Back to school isn't just a schedule change, it's a full nervous system adjustment.

New routines, new noise levels, new social demands. If your kid seems more tired, more emotional, or more "off" than usual right now, that's not a red flag. That's a nervous system doing a lot of adjusting in a short amount of time.

A few things our team watches for as families settle back in:

🌱 After-school meltdowns (often just decompression, not defiance)
🌱 Big feelings around new teachers or classmates
🌱 Sensory overwhelm from busier, louder environments
🌱 Sleep or appetite shifts as routines reset
🌱 Big emotions around separation, especially for younger kids

None of this means something is wrong. It usually means your child felt safe enough to hold it together all day and let it out with you.

If back to school season is bringing up bigger questions about your child's development, behavior, or feeding, our multidisciplinary team is here for it.
