Indigenous care providers supporting families through culturally safe programming, services, education And we governed by natural law and Ceremony.

ihkapaskwa Indigenous Wellness Collective is a local Non-Profit, centred around wahkohtowin. wahkohtowin is a Cree word which denotes the interconnected nature of relationships, communities, and natural systems. Our programming provides wrap-around support dedicated to Indigenous families that offers a continuum of care across the life cycle by reclaiming traditional kin systems within the community. We are dedicated to address gaps in service in western healthcare through support-based Indigenous kinship systems, and incorporating traditional ways of healing and wellness. By incorporating Elders, Aunties, Uncles and Birthworkers we are reawakening traditions, and incorporating them into our families. Adding to the collective healing of our communities, right from birth.

Something special is growing in Wood Buffalo, and we need your help! 💗

Our Moontime Learning Lodge initiative is in the voting stage of the 2026 Field Law Community Fund Program, with the opportunity to receive $15,000 in funding!

🌙 Why is the Moontime Learning Lodge so important?
Rooted in Indigenous culture and traditional knowledge, this initiative creates opportunities for youth and families to reconnect with sacred Moontime teachings through cultural learning, traditional practices, and community connection.
From Full Moon Ceremonies to creating traditional Moontime medicine bundles, these teachings help build confidence, celebrate our bodies, and break the stigma surrounding menstruation.

With 17 local facilitators trained across Wood Buffalo, we’re helping keep these important teachings alive and accessible for generations to come. 🌿

Today, we hold space for the little lives gone too soon, the families carrying unimaginable grief, and the love that never fades.

To the parents who have experienced miscarriage, stillbirth, infant loss, or the heartbreak of saying goodbye before they were ready. We see you, we honour you, and we hold you close in our hearts. 🌸

At Aunties Within Reach, we believe that reproductive care goes beyond pregnancy and birth. It means creating safe, compassionate spaces where families feel heard, supported, and cared for through every part of their journey, including loss.
Today, we remember the babies who were here for a moment, carried for a season, or loved for a lifetime.

To anyone carrying this grief quietly, your love and your loss are acknowledged here.

With love,
Your Aunties 🌷

Here’s what the Aunties are up to this month! 🌸

As the weather gets crisp and the seasons begin to change, there’s no better time to gather, connect, and warm our hearts surrounded by community. 🍂

Our October calendar is filled with opportunities to come together across our communities. From Indigenous Families Gathering and Relatives in Residence, to community programming and wellness days.

Save the dates, come as you are, and come connect with the Aunties! 💗

We look forward to sharing space, stories, and wellness with our communities this month. 🌿

A huge thank you to Enbridge Inc. for generously donating a vehicle to Aunties Within Reach. 🤍

This vehicle will help our team continue bringing accessible, compassionate, and culturally grounded care and resources directly into the communities we serve.

We also want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who donated to our GoFundMe. Your generosity helped cover the cost of insuring the vehicle for the year, making it possible for us to get on the road and put this incredible donation to use. 🚙

Our decal installation supported by Moccasin Media 🌸

Support like this has a direct impact on the work we provide. We’re so grateful to have a community that continues to show up for the Aunties and the work we do.

Thank you, Enbridge, Moccasin Media, and thank you to every single person who contributed. We truly couldn’t do this without you. 🤍

Schools back in session! 📚

We’re so proud to share that our Aunties have dropped off tampon donations at four high schools in Fort McMurray, as well as Tawâw!

Because period products are a necessity, not a luxury. Every student and community member deserves to feel comfortable, supported, and able to focus on their studies without worrying about access to menstrual products.

And we’re not stopping here… more schools to come! 🏫

A huge thank you to everyone who continues to support the Aunties and help us make a difference in our community. 🤍
