Our Pregnancy Treatment Policy

At Pure Laser & Aesthetics, we postpone all laser and aesthetic treatments during pregnancy as a precaution to prioritize the well-being of our clients and their babies.

Laser hair removal has not been adequately studied during pregnancy, so its safety has not been established. Pregnancy also brings hormonal changes that can increase skin sensitivity, affect pigmentation, and make hair growth and treatment results less predictable.

Our decision to pause all treatments is a clinic policy—not a statement that every aesthetic treatment is harmful during pregnancy. We look forward to welcoming you after delivery for a consultation to determine when it is appropriate to resume your care.

Candela GentleMax Pro Plus: Your Questions Answered

1. What is laser hair removal?
Laser hair removal targets pigment in the hair follicle to reduce future hair growth. A series of treatments helps achieve longer-lasting hair reduction.

2. Which laser do you use?
At Pure Laser & Aesthetics we use the Candela GentleMax Pro Plus featuring Alexandrite 755 nm and Nd:YAG 1064 nm laser technology. This allows treatment to be tailored to different skin types.

3. Can it treat darker skin tones?
Yes. The GentleMax Pro Plus offers options for Fitzpatrick skin types I–VI. The appropriate wavelength and settings depend on your skin tone, hair, and assessment. A recent tan may require postponing treatment.

4. Does the treatment hurt?
You may feel warmth or a brief snapping sensation. Candela’s Dynamic Cooling Device sprays cryogen before each laser pulse to help protect the skin and improve comfort.

5. How many sessions will I need?
Multiple sessions are needed. Your treatment plan depends on the area, hair characteristics, and response. Additional sessions or maintenance treatments may be required.

6. Will every hair disappear permanently?
Results vary. Laser can provide long-term hair reduction, but complete removal of every hair is not guaranteed. Some hair can regrow, and maintenance may be needed.

7. What should my skin look like afterward?
Temporary redness and swelling around the follicles are common.

8. How should I prepare?
Avoid tanning and self-tanner, protect exposed skin with broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher, and follow your personalized preparation instructions. Tell us about medications, recent tanning, and any history of scarring or cold sores.

9. What should I do after treatment?
Follow your aftercare instructions, protect the treated skin from the sun, and avoid tanning. Your provider will explain how to care for the area while it settles.
