Remember: Our thoughts about ourselves turn into emotions. Our emotions turn into certain behaviors and then those behaviors become more thoughts. Make sure the cycle you’re creating is a positive one!

Our inner dialogue has a major impact on our mental and physical health. If you wouldn’t say it to someone you really love, a small child or even a stranger then why are you saying it to yourself?

Whether it be children, partners, siblings, parents, chosen family and friends. If so....then it’s even more important to put yourself first and take care of your physical and emotional well-being. What are emotions?

Emotions are strong feelings that happen as a result or our circumstances, mood, or relationship with others. They are our responses to significant internal and external events. They are like the dashboard on our car letting us know what is happening for us. You can ignore that “check oil” light for awhile but eventually the car is going to stop working (withdraw from others) or literally blow up the car (let all your emotions out at once).

Do you ignore your emotions when they are uncomfortable? We won’t ignore happiness but we will do what we can to distract from loss, grief, anger, frustration, sadness and many more emotions. All our emotions are valid and important. They also all equally need to be processed and not ignored. You can only ignore them for so long and they will find a way to come out whether that be in an emotional or physical way.

Sooooo the point is we need to feel our feelings and if we don’t know how to do this then we need to reach out for support. Learning how to feel your feelings is a skill that will support you in every aspect of your life and improve your mental and physical health.

So FEEL THOSE FEELINGS on this FEELINGS FRIDAY.

Well it’s WELLNESS WEDNESDAY again and well I don’t think many of us are feeling “well”. How are you feeling about the new restrictions? Whatever YOU feel is valid and remember that. It might be the opposite of another but both your feelings are valid and important. With everything going on we tend to get lost in all our big emotions. Sit with your emotions, feel your emotions and find a way to work through them. The anger, frustration, disappointment and sadness doesn’t just magically go away. Reach out to people or professionals that can support you in your VERY VALID big emotions at this time.

We are only in control of our own emotions, thoughts and actions. What can you do to stay focused and get you through this next lockdown?

It’s Tuesday and we are once again waiting on another announcement. The waiting game is causing many of us to be in complete panic and it is draining on our mental health. Do we have control over what will be announced today? No, we do not. We do have control though over our own reactions and what we can do to maintain our own mental health.

Here are 5 things we can do to benefit our mental health. You might just pick one or maybe you are going to focus on all 5. These are tangible things that each one of us have control over. Focus on what you can control not what is out of your control.
