✨ Can we talk about what lash extensions should NOT feel like? ✨
These lashes came to me from another artist, and I’m sharing them for education ONLY (no shaming allowed here, kay?!)
Every lash artist has a learning stage. Sometimes poor application comes from gaps in training, rushing, or simply not knowing what you don’t know yet.
And listen… we have ALL had things we needed to learn. Nobody came flying out of the womb holding two tweezers with perfect isolation. 😂
But clients also deserve to understand what’s happening on their eyes.
Looking at these lashes, one of the biggest things that jumps out is isolation.
Multiple natural lashes appear to be adhered together in sections instead of each extension/fan being properly isolated onto one natural lash.
And this matters because every single natural lash is on its own growth cycle.
One is growing.
One is chilling.
One has already submitted her resignation and is preparing to yeet herself from your eyelid. 😂
When they’re glued together, they can’t move independently.
So as one natural lash continues growing or tries to shed, it can begin pulling on the other natural lashes it’s attached to.
And for the client?
That can feel like tightness.
Pinching when you blink.
Pulling.
Tenderness along the lash line.
Lashes that feel heavy, crunchy or stiff.
Or that annoying feeling where you constantly want to rub or pick at one specific spot because something just feels WRONG.
And eventually, clients can start thinking:
“Maybe lash extensions just aren’t comfortable for me.”
Except properly applied lash extensions shouldn’t hurt.
You shouldn’t spend the next two or three weeks hyper-aware that something is attached to your eyelids. 😭
Beautiful lash work isn’t ONLY about what your lashes look like when you open your eyes.
It’s what I see when your eyes are closed that matters just as much.
Proper isolation.
Clean attachment.
Appropriate weight.
Correct placement.
No stickies.
And protecting the health of your natural lashes ALWAYS. 🩷
Sometimes the best thing I can do as your lash artist isn’t cram another extension onto a lash because we want the set to look fuller.
Sometimes it’s saying, “Nope. That little baby lash isn’t ready yet.”
Because lash health > fullness for an Instagram picture. Every. Single. Time.
✨ FOR CLIENTS:
If you’ve had lashes before that pinched, pulled, felt ridiculously heavy or were just plain uncomfortable… please don’t assume that’s what extensions are supposed to feel like.
I’m currently accepting new lash clients, and every set is customized to your natural lashes, your eye shape AND your desired look while keeping natural lash health at the forefront.
Come get cozy. We’ll make you pretty. 🫶🏼
✨ FOR CURRENT LASH ARTISTS:
If you’re looking at these pictures thinking, “Okay but HOW do I know if I’m doing this?” — this is exactly the kind of thing we take on in my 1:1 Lash Artist Mentorship, where we work to improve your confidence AND your skills (& fill your books with your soulmate clients who feel like besties). 🩷
This isn’t about making you feel s**tty about what you don’t know.
It’s about figuring out what you don’t know yet and actually teaching you how to fix it.
✨ FOR ASPIRING LASH ARTISTS:
If you’ve been thinking about becoming a lash artist but have approximately ✨zero f**king clue where to start✨ — my 3-in-1 Lash Extension Certification was created to give you the foundation I wish every new artist had.
We go from Classic all the way through Volume & Mega Volume, covering technique, isolation, natural lash health, styling, client care, safety AND the business knowledge you need to actually feel confident taking paying clients.
Because getting a certificate is cute…
Actually knowing what the hell you’re doing when a real human lays down on your lash bed is better. 😂
No gatekeeping.
No expecting you to magically know something you were never taught.
Just really freaking good lash education, continued support, and a safe place to ask the “Okay, but is this normal?!” questions while you build your skills, confidence AND your business.
Whether you need a new lash artist, you’re already an artist who wants more support, or you’ve been secretly thinking about becoming one…
My DMs are open. 🩷✨
