captain of my ship • love of my life • handsome devil of my heart

to my sweet, silly goose of a fiancé. there is not a person in this world who has loved anyone the way that i love you. but, more than that, there is not a version of me before you that ever believed i would be worthy of a love like this. not just one that walks in step between us, but one that opened my heart to all of the love that exists in the world. i love you, not in possession, but in awe. in gratitude. in childlike wonder, every day.

we talked a lot about whether i would write this, put this online, share this with a platform of people - many of whom we do not know intimately at all. ultimately, we decided what a responsibility we have to this world we love so much. in celebration, but also in defiance. i will take every opportunity available to me to share the exquisite joy of t4t love, of q***r love, of the expansive knowing of each other that we get to have. regardless of legislation, of policy, of politics, of what those who do not know us, have to say.

q***r and trans joy are intrinsic to life, to revolution, to community connection, to every beat of every heart in this world. there is no world that has ever existed without trans people. without q***r people. without our love and families and communities and stories. without our elders and our children.

it can never be taken from us, not really, and as long as i am alive i will shout the beauty of q***rness from every rooftop in the world. as those before me have done. as those after me will continue to do. hoping that, one day, we will live in a world where trans kids won’t ever have to wonder if they will be loved.

thank you for opening my heart. for choosing me. for loving me and letting me love you. thank you for the life and community we are building. thank you to my q***r and trans loves for every way you’ve held my heart. thank you from the small q***r being in my heart who has bloomed in the ever glowing light of truly being seen.
