Wait - what the heck is "gymtimidation"?

Gymtimidation is when you feel afraid, nervous or anxious about going to the gym, a fitness class or working out with other people.

If you can relate to this, know you're not alone!

Studies find that at least 50% of participants are intimidated by the thought of working out at a gym.

Whether you feel pressured, judged, or just straight up uncomfortable - gymtimidation down right sucks.

So whether you are looking for some support in feeling confident to move your body around other people, or you want inclusive classes to try from the comfort of your home - we've got you!

Our 30 day pass was made just for you - to explore Loyobo fitness classes, coaching, and community support - all from your safe space - home.

Grab your pass for only $39!

This. A million times THIS!!!!

Often you might try to "sub out" what you consider to be "healthier" foods when you are craving something that diet culture tells you is a treat or junk food.

But - when (not if, but when) it doesn't satisfy your craving... it often means you end up continuing to search for that satisfying feeling with OTHER foods.

And often end up eating more of whatever food you were trying to avoid anyways. With all the guilt, shame and feeling like a failure from not being able to "stick to it".

Just eat the food. Find your joy. Give yourself permission to eat.

Love this post from Sumner Brooks] !

Posted • Sumner Brooks] To the person who doesn't feel like you are allowed to be an intuitive eater or who feels guilty for desiring to finally put your relationship with food on the front burner: I’d like to offer some words. A little friendly reminder because this can feel really hard.
💕
The people who judge you, who don’t believe we can be trusted with food, who think Intuitive Eating is an excuse to “not care about yourself” - don’t get it.
💕
YOU DESERVE TO BE FED, TO BE SATISFIED, AND TO STOP INCESSANTLY WORRYING ABOUT FOOD AND WEIGHT. There is more to this life for you than that.
💕
If you have been shamed, or even read or seen very negative viewpoints about what it means about you if you stop dieting and start living and eating intuitively, know that those views come from an uninformed, tunnel-vision, fear-based stance and it does not need to be something you attach to as truth.

✨ Member Shout-out! ✨

Today's member shout out is from Courtney for Heather M.!

"Heather captioned this photo herself:

"Grab your laptop, your water, your Loyobo gear and you're ready to Zumba!"💃🥰

Heather is a constant source of smiles in our community. She loves being silly, laughing and dancing, making jokes and connecting with other members. She constantly has me in stitches!

She openly shares her journey and is quick to provide words of encouragement to others.

And I am so incredibly grateful of how much she fiercely loves our community. I am lucky to know her and SO thankful that we get to be a part of her journey."

The biggest feedback we hear from members is the same. You join because you want to get moving. You are looking for fitness classes.

But - what really ends up changing your life is the other women. The community of people. Understanding what it finally feels like to be loved for WHO you are and to be seen as more than your body.

To have people who understand what you have been through and what you are trying to do in your life - and are rooting for you every step of the way.

Let's give Heather some love in the comments below. If you have been to class or a workshop with Heather - what is your favourite memory?

And - if you want to get started, try us with our 30 day trial for just $39+tax.

Who knows? Maybe you will be our next Member Shout Out!

In case you needed a reminder today - this amazing post by is 🔥🔥🔥

"Can we pleaseeee stop saying “I feel fat.”

Because no. No, you don’t. You feel uncomfortable. You feel aware of the space you take up. You feel afraid of judgment from others. You feel inadequate. You feel less than. You feel ____.

Fat is not a feeling. When you go to say that (as many of us have before), ask yourself what you’re really feeling. Ask yourself where you learned that message. It’s past time we dismantle our internalized anti-fat bias. "

Listen - we are ALL guilty of this. But - when you know better, you need to do better. So if you are committed to cutting this phrase from your lingo, let me know in the comments below and leave a 🤚to share your commitment!

So often Photo inspired by the always amazing

Reframing your thoughts (and how you see your body) is an incredibly powerful tool that I teach to my clients and in our Loyobo community.

It has helped me build an appreciation for parts of my body which used to be sources of a lot of insecurity, shame and frankly - were something that I hated.

💜 My hip dips. I used to avoid bodycon or form fitting clothing because I thought my body was not the "ideal shape" or silhouette. Now, I love my curves and my hips!

💜 Big, voluminous, frizzy hair! Whether its my post-workout hair or just learning how to take care of/embracer my natural curls - this has been a huge transformation for me (that has resulted in a LOT less stress and money spent on products!)

💜 Acne and blemishes (including ingrown hairs!). Instead of embarrassment, I recognize that these are a normal part of having skin and being in a body. Everyone has them and the more I just let myself exist, the less I feel like I need to hide them.

💜 My thighs and having a large lower body. This is how I am meant to be. That is something to be celebrated. Having thinner legs would not make me more worthy or lovable.

💜 Rolls - why did I ever think these were anything other than CUTE AS HELL?

In fact, reframing has become a bit of my superpower. I love working with women to shift their perspective.

So - let me help you!

What is something about your body that you feel self-conscious about? Or shame? Or outright HATE?

Lets work on it together in the comments below so you can start to feel a little better today.

Inspired by one of our faves -

A mantra I have on repeat, for both myself and my clients, is "The first thought doesn't matter. The second thought is what counts."

The first thoughts are the ones that happen automatically. Often the most deeply programmed stories and beliefs we have about ourselves. The ones that are the hardest to let go.

When you are trying to change your relationship with your body and feel better in your skin, it can be frustrating to have these thoughts. You wish you just felt confident, without all the self-criticism.

Unfortunately, it doesn't usually happen that way.

I have been doing this work for years now and I still have those knee-jerk thoughts. Sometimes when I see my arms moving in videos or catch a glimpse in the mirror - I notice how much bigger my upper arms are than they used to be.
My flab hangs a little lower and I feel the familiar twinge of failure and shame.

BUT - now I have the tools to reframe these thoughts. To choose my current reality and change how I feel in my body.

To ditch those old beliefs that used to ruin my day. Now - they often just last for a moment, and then I am able to shake them off and move forward.

I want that for you, too.

So - I want to keep sharing ways that you are able to reframe to help you start to do the same. What are some of the persistent first thoughts that you have about your body? What does your negative self-talk say to you? Which parts do you fixate on?

And if you are ready to take the step to start seeing real change in your life, click the link in our bio to get our NEW 30 days for $39 trial pass. Join me for our weekly coaching sessions, use our self-guided courses to learn more self-talk tools, and join us for some live movement classes.

🎶 Music to our freaking ears! 🎶

We LOVE hearing this feedback from our members - that being apart of the community helps them put themselves first.

Often times, we have the best intentions when we make plans to move our bodies - "I'll do a youtube video" or "I'll dust off some old DVDs next week".

But the reality is - making movement a priority in your life can often fall by the waste side, when you don't have accountability to your goals.

That's why we built this community. To be a safe space for all bodies and mobilities, to access the help they need to feel good.

We're here to cheer you on - for all of the big wins, small wins, and setbacks.

Come explore our fitness classes and community with our new 30 Day Trial Pass - for only $39!

Next time you catch yourself in a spiral, or a negative thought creeps in, ask yourself this question:

"What else can be true?"

When you use the power of both/and, you can reframe certain thoughts, while still validating them.

Maybe you're finding hard to love how your legs look in a bathing suit. But even if you feel that way - that doesn't negate you *loving your body*. Loving your body is about seeing it's worth and wonderfulness outside of how it looks.

And this month, we're going to dive into this topic even deeper in a free workshop! Head over to our Discovering Body Acceptance Group to get all the details!

Happy Friday ya'll!

Any movement that feels good for your body is good movement!

✨ A 5 minute stretch

✨ A 45 minute walk

✨ A gentle yoga practice

✨ A weight lifting session

✨ A dance party in the living room

They are all great ways to move your body. There's no 'earning it' or 'if you're not sweaty, it doesn't count' here.

If you had a sweaty workout - amazing!

If you had a gentle workout - also amazing!

Listen to your body - and what feels good for YOU!

What is a Body Breakthrough Call? 🤷🏽‍♀️

It is a 90 minute one on one private session with me (Courtney!).

It is a space for you to discuss your goals, share your struggles and for you and I to discover what is most important for your success based on where you are at in your life right now.

Sometimes that might look like time management - how to reduce the amount of overwhelm or navigate through competing priorities in order to make regular time for movement and self-care.

Or it might be building your confidence in order to take that first step. To feel comfortable trying a group fitness class or getting back into movement.

Or - navigating the relationships in your life. How to navigate conversations about diets or weight loss, pressure from family members or loved ones or unwelcome comments. How to set boundaries and choose your own path forward.

You get my support - before the session and follow-ups after - so you never feel alone.

Want to find out more? Comment 😍and I will send you a DM with more info.

If you booked a call, what would you most want to talk about? Let me know in the comments below.

The Loyobo FIT Way of Life

There are 8 rules that guide the Loyobo FIT way of life and are reflected in everything that we do. They represent our values and ethics, but also our promise to you - our members and fitness family.

We want to do fitness differently. Here's how.

#1. We believe strength comes in all shapes & sizes.

There is no "one-size-fits-all" path to health and fitness. There is no perfect body archetype that we aim to follow. We focus on body positivity and helping you use fitness as a foundation for loving your body.

Health ≠ Weight

One of the most powerful things you can do is separate fitness from the scale.

That’s why this week’s Feel Good Nakd guest, Courtney McCarthy, Founder of Loyobo FIT is sharing a NEW more empowering approach to health and fitness.

Now this might seem a lil’ terrifying right? After all it’s drilled into our minds that “healthy weight” is important….

But that’s a simplification…what’s important is HEALTHY HABITS…

Courtney shares:

*how to reach fitness goals without number obsession
*shifting from fitness for looks to fitness for life
*why she feels more confident in a bigger body

>>>Links to listen in the comments!
I love being part of the Loyobo FIT community! 💜💜💜
Courtney McCarthy is the CEO and founder of Loyobo FIT, a fitness community dedicated to helping people (but especially women) to ditch diet culture. She learned the hard way how broken our views are towards women's bodies and health. How the model that the fitness industry presents to us as the answer keeps us stuck and feeling worse. Her mission is to prove that there is another way and she does, in this week's conversation on Taking the Helm.

Hi New Friends!
Join me and Courtney McCarthy tomorrow, Wednesday at 6:30pm EST to learn about the 10 Principles of Intuitive Eating, bring your questions and receive the special printable handout I made just for you. There’s a description of each of the principles, benefits and you can take the quiz before the presentation to see where you might have work to do to return to your birthright - eating intuitively! Sign up on MINDBODY right now to receive your handout! Look forward to meeting as many if you as possible! ♡︎ Tanya
P.S. A special thank you to those of you who sent me (someone you’ve never met) love and support for me and my beloved Moxie dog. It’s been tough but knowing that I’m not alone in this hard experience helps as I heal. ❤️

Hi Everyone!!

I'll try posting again and see if this works this time!

I was asked about frequency music and thought I would share the ones I have enjoyed:)

This is super helpful for me when I'm around at home and need something to ground me, calm me, or just to create the energy of "all is ok and well".

If you're interested in digging deeper, check out this site. Explains a lot! If you scroll down a bit you'll find the different explanations for the mind body connection with the different frequencies.

Hi everyone!!

I was asked about frequency music and requested to share some! Thank you for being patient :)

I enjoy putting on the ones I feel I need. It really helps me through moments without me needing to do something, read something, etc. Sometimes I just want to be supported through my sense of sound and feeling.

I typically listen to them when I'm at home or sometimes when I'm in the classroom with kids! (I supply teach)
