Interested in learning about how we can promote environmental sustainability through our healthcare choices? A group of UofT medical students at Project Green Healthcare have created an initiative to help healthcare practitioners learn about how we can promote environmental sustainability through the Choosing Wisely Canada family medicine recommendations (https://www.greenchoosingwisely.com/). Participating in this module will help you learn about the environmental impact of our healthcare choices, and tips on how to create a greener healthcare practice. Moreover, all participants who complete the included surveys will be raffled to win one of three $20 gift cards.

Many Canadians prefer to avoid invasive or overly aggressive life-sustaining measures, particularly at the end of life. But too often, these tests or treatments occur because a patient’s wishes are not known. Why does this gap exist? And how can clinicians and patients ensure these important conversations take place?

Choosing Wisely Talks on March 10 at 12 p.m. ET will explore the barriers to having serious illness conversations. Gain insights and perspectives on how clinicians and patients can engage in earlier and better conversations to inform future care.

The webinar will feature new tools and resources to help get these important conversations started and which are part of Choosing Wisely Canada’s newest initiative ‘Time to Talk’.

The document draws on the campaigns’ grassroots clinician leadership and evidence-based recommendations to offer policy ideas. These ideas include ways for decision-makers to use available levers—incentives, system design and investments—to thoughtfully affect the state of low-value care and help ensure that health care resources are used wisely.

Here is a picture for the history books. One of the first Innu Nurses giving the Covid-19 vaccine to a member of the Sheshatshiu community. Thank-you to all who were a part of making this a reality today. The pandemic has been a long road but we still have a little bit further to go to keep our community safe.
