Grieving the life you thought you would have is a form of ambiguous or disenfranchised grief.

When you’re grieving “the life you didn’t think you would have,” you are often experiencing both. The loss is ambiguous because you’re mourning an abstract timeline rather than a physical death, and it is disenfranchised because people might tell you to “just look on the bright side,” failing to recognize how significant this is.

This comes up in therapy A LOT and for very good reason. With a good portion of our clients at CCP falling between the ages of 25-60 it’s no doubt that identify shifts and grief play a part that significantly impacts mood and feeling fulfilled.

To anyone feeling this way, we see you 💙

When the 3rd presenter finally finished talking. 😳🫣😬

We had a full house today CCPsychotherapy for day 1 of 3 of some intensive OCD training. 3rd presenter had some questionable remarks but we recovered well.

Thankful to be surrounded by lifelong students 💙🙏

Loved this summary of “lesser known” reasons or signs that therapy can be helpful.

Therapy is helpful in times of crisis.

That being said, these signs and symptoms are also great opportunities to come in and get a head start on feeling better.

We often normalize feeling less than optimal, this is a sign to check in with yourself.

Solidarity with anyone who can find versions of themselves in these slides. 💙

You’re not alone, reach out to discuss options for support.

Luisa Di Iorio is back in-person to help us accommodate some of our demand for apts on weekends. We couldn’t be more thrilled to have you back in the space Lu 💙

“One of the reasons I love this work is because I have always loved learning more about people and their experiences. I enjoy working with men, women, couples and families. I find great pleasure in helping people validate their experiences and feel less alone.

With couples, I enjoy working with people who are looking for better ways to communicate or who are navigating challenging times. I have been told I’m a great mediator and feel confident supporting couples who need a strong presence in the room.

I get great pleasure in working with women who are navigating life’s many challenges which include, increasing self worth, working with anxiety, low mood and life transitions. I have experience working with anger management and high conflict resolution.

Ultimately, I’m committed to providing a space for clients who are ready to navigate life from a place of understanding and hope.”

Thanks for coming to hang out with us again Luisa. We appreciate your commitment to meeting the demand of our community.

It’s time to address the controversy.

Why exactly do I spend time rearranging the offices at CCP?

Yes, I was that kid that changed my room around on a Saturday night like it was the best night of my life.

However, there are some really important reasons why some of the shifts take place and they don’t ALL have to do with trying to mess with the staff.

-Temperature control. We have big, beautiful windows in our space. Where the sun is shining, what season it is, and what time of life our peeps are in changes on the regular. Sometimes room shifts happen to accommodate these changes.

-Confidentiality. My number one concern is clients feeling secure. Any space that has more than one office needs to ensure this. Positioning a chair, moving offices— it all matters when it comes to privacy.

-Comfort. Our furniture gets old, some isn’t built very well other prices are more structured. Our therapists share offices, and their backs may all be in different stages so chairs need to change. Each office has to accommodate, online sessions, more in-person each with different preferences for seating. Clients’ preferences in terms of couches and blankets. It all plays a part in organizing 10 therapists in 4 offices.

-Stimulation. Some people like the calm of the white walls, some would prefer a bit more colour, some like to have lots of toys for distraction, and some may have very real aversions to seeing certain things.

It all matters, and it makes me very happy to try and accommodate it all. Our space is where you come to deal with at times some very uncomfortable things, my goal is to make it as comfortable as possible 💙
