Remembrance Day is near and dear to my heart. Raised in a military family and humbled to have held presence with bereaved family members of our Afghanistan fallen in my research on wartime bereavement.
It was a tremendous honour and privilege today to raise the flag in the Remembrance Day ceremony at Trafalgar Memorial in Oakville. Thank you to all the organizers and participants in person and online. Together we Remember.

June is Brain Injury Awareness month in Canada. Social Work Solutions Canada supports many who suffer from this 'invisible' injury. The symptoms are often far reaching; impacting every aspect of life (how we think, feel, function in our day and relationships with family and friends). Survivors often express the added burden of judgement from others, as physically they may appear ‘fine'. Many events are happening this month to help create awareness. #Virtual5k #SupportingABI #OntarioBIA #UnmaskingBrainInjury #Canada #Ontario #HamOnt

At Social Work Solutions Canada we are distressed by, and reflecting on, current events that highlight ongoing marginalization in our communities. We are committed to amplifying the voices of the marginalized and racialized, and standing up against racism and injustice. With humility, we acknowledge the need to continue to learn, and unlearn privileged ways. Safe, strong and inclusive communities are a right for all.
