To have the opportunity to teach a brilliant group of professionals was nerve-wracking (they can attest to my shaky hands 🙈) but an honour. I am incredibly grateful to @function101eric @function101sam and the team @function101locke for welcoming me into their space. I’m super excited for what’s to come 🙏🏽❤️

Or, in the words of Benjamin Franklin - “He that can take rest is greater than he that can take cities.”

These are some of the benefits of resting:

1. Healthier body
2. Less stress
3. Deeper relationships
4. Opportunity for reflection
5. Balance
6. Increase production
7. Reserve for life’s emergencies

Capture the lost practice of rest and start enjoying life again.

Who’s with me? 🙋🏽‍♂️

Just for fun… which would you choose? I’ll drop mine in the comments, too! 🥳

Eating slowly and mindfully is more important than:

* What you eat
* When you eat
* Where you eat
* Who you eat with
* Getting everything else “perfect”

It helps your body do its job because it takes at least 20 minutes for signals to get from your stomach to your brain to tell you that you’re full.

Eating slowly will help you digest your food better. 😋

Eating slowly and paying attention to your eating is like a little oasis of calm in your busy schedule. A moment for you to be able to take care of you for a change. 🧘🏽‍♂️🧘🏽‍♀️

Eating slowly will teach you to truly appreciate well prepared and tasty foods in ways you never imagined! 🙌🏽

Wanting to lose unwanted fat/weight but tired of diets that never work long term? I have a few spots open for my 1:1 coaching. DM me for details!

As a Coach, I can tell you that my clients who struggle with fat/weight loss do so for many different reasons, all of which are real and valid, and all of which we can push through with hard work.

You don’t need to stay stuck in the same sad body that’s been dragging you down for years.

Whether your weight loss barriers are physical or mental, you can overcome them and find your way to a healthier you.
Where to start?

Honestly, it’s all in your head. You cannot and will not lose the weight until you are in the right frame of mind to do it. When we talk about “willpower” and “focus,” we’re talking about your mental game.

The hard truth is that before you get your body healthy, you have to get your head healthy.

What kinds of MENTAL barriers are keeping you from losing weight?

1. Poor Body Image.
2. Emotional Eating.
3. Comparing Yourself to Others.
4. Making Yourself Low Priority.
5. Lack of Trust.

To blast through your mental barriers, you’ve got to learn to love yourself, and that means knowing yourself, seeing yourself as you are, and being willing to nurture yourself the way you would anyone else you love.

At the end of the day, there is nothing wrong with enjoying a sweet treat after a meal. However, when you’re trying to lose fat/weight, your body needs to be in a caloric deficit.

So, be mindful about calorie dense foods (dessert).

Enjoy them in moderation or adjust your meals accordingly so you can balance the energy you’re consuming.

We need to be aware that certain eating patterns can facilitate or hinder weight/fat loss.

We need awareness to realise that all foods are allowed. That quantity of calories, not types of food, directly affect the goals we want to pursue.

With awareness and basic knowledge, small changes in habits/diet can provide us with big rewards!

As my amazing coach @coachchristiemiller says, “weight loss doesn’t start in the kitchen or the gym. It begins in the mind.”

Super excited to share with all of you that I am now certified as a Kinstretch instructor! 😀 Kinstretch is a movement enhancement system that develops maximum body control, flexibility and USABLE ranges of motion. In other words, I now have more tools to:
1. Help you get stronger (without the use of weights) by utilising your body’s own tension.

2. Keep your body mobile.

3. Teach you how to breath better.

4. Help you move and age better.

5. Prevent injuries.

Stay tuned for virtual offerings and local hangouts (outdoors and following safe distancing protocols) 😉

Since I decided to become a health coach, I’ve been working hard on letting go of my scarcity mindset. Growing up, I was told that I should be grateful for the little I had and that striving to succeed was greedy and selfish. It was a powerful message, and I’m sure my parents didn’t intentionally want to hinder my dreams... I think they were doing the best they could with the tools given to them.
So, here I am today. Sorting through the wounds, traumas and historical patterns that keep me disconnected from my natural abundance; setting boundaries so I can focus more on what makes me happy, instead of blaming others for the obstacles I face and doing my best to detach from the past so I can focus my awareness in the present, the only place from where I can effect change. ❤️🙏🏽

Anyone else? 👇🏽

Two things that are making me happy during COVID winter in #LockedDownHamilton

1. It’s been a few days of +degrees weather and sunny skies! By now, I’m desperate for warmer weather and greener views. 😊
2. I get to boss the hubs around 🤪 in the video content I’m producing for the 8-week road trip to a “groovier” you! ❤️🤗📹

What about you? Let’s do our best to focus on the good right now 👇🏽

Does healthy balance exist, or is it a myth?

A client of mine asked me this question while having a conversation about her weight loss journey.

I started thinking about all the ideas I had for her to begin scheduling days for meal planning, meal prep, exercise so that she can find a healthy balance.

But then... it hit me.

That’s not the first step to findings healthy balance at all! It’s all about taking small steps, improving 1% daily, and taking imperfect actions.

👉🏽 Be open to trade-offs as you attempt to transform your body and improve your health.

👉🏽 Be open to feeling unmotivated.

👉🏽 Be open to letting go of getting it “perfect.”

👉🏽 Be open to change - because sh*t changes constantly.

👉🏽 Be open to the fact that YOUR healthy balance is ALL an experiment of slowly practicing behaviours you are ready to take on. The OUTCOME is 100% out of your control.

👉🏽 Be open to not seeing progress every week (because you will NOT).

BE OPEN.

A healthy balance is dynamic, and you are human. If you’re not open to trying things and learning as you go, not only will it be hard to find it, but you’ll hate the process and undoubtedly give up.

If I were starting from the beginning, that’s the first thing I’d do: Shift my mindset to take the first step, get to work, and stop worrying about FAKING that I’m living a “perfect” healthy lifestyle.

Agree or disagree? 👇🏽
