Health Evidence

Health Evidence Helping public health use best evidence in practice Our vision is for Canada's public health system to be one in which organizations and individuals incorporate the best available evidence into decision making to promote optimal health among populations.

We help the public health workforce and policy makers search for, interpret, and apply research evidence to their local context. We launched the Health Evidence registry of reviews in March 2005, and in 2007 expanded to include training and consultation services. We disseminate high-quality review-level evidence via Twitter (@HealthEvidence) and webinars (recordings posted to our YouTube page http

In this IDCC Webinar Series presentation, Dr. Vett Lloyd and Samantha Bishop of Mount Allison University will review the research they are undertaking to assess the prevalence of leptospirosis in New Brunswick. Leptospirosis is a serious disease that is spread from exposure to water or soil contaminated by urine from infected wildlife and domestic animals. Many of these reservoir animals are expanding their traditional habitats under the influence of climate change. The presentation will describe the distribution of leptospires across the province and the necessity of continuous monitoring to protect the wellbeing of humans, companion, agricultural and wild animals.

The webinar will be offered in English only.

The past two years have been unprecedented in many ways, creating new challenges and opportunities for the Forum. We were able to move as far and as fast as we did because of partnerships with groups that powerfully complement our areas of strength. Through all of this work, we maintained our focus on impacts. Looking forward, we plan to build on lessons learned during the pandemic, respond to emerging issues on the horizon, and continue to advance human and societal health and wellbeing.
