Meet the newest addition to our Currents team, Desiree Raposo! 🌿

Desiree brings a unique, mind-body approach to counselling at our Salmon Arm location, drawing from her background in massage therapy and yoga to ground her work in warmth, curiosity, and compassion.
Integrating attachment-focused, somatic, and evidence-based care — including EMDR, EFT, IFS-informed parts work, and mindfulness — she creates a safe, nonjudgmental space to support individuals, couples, and families navigating trauma, relationship dynamics, self-criticism, and personal growth.

Small choices lead to big shifts! 🌿

We often wait until we feel ”ready” or completely confident before taking a step towards change-whether that’s reaching out for support, setting a boundary, or starting something new.

The truth is, confidence isn’t a requirement for starting; it’s a byproduct of action. Action creates clarity, and movement creates momentum!

Not everything that looks like an overreaction is one.

Sometimes it’s protection.
A nervous system doing exactly what it learned to survive.

At Currents, we don’t rush healing.
We create space for it—through safety, trust, and respect.

Trauma is often misunderstood.

It is not only about what happens to us, but about how our nervous system experiences and carries those moments over time.

A trauma-informed perspective invites compassion instead of judgment.
Our responses are not signs of weakness — they are adaptive responses to experiences that mattered.

Healing begins when experiences are understood, named, and supported with care.

International Women’s Day — March 8

Women’s distress is often pathologized instead of contextualized.

Anger becomes “emotional.”
Fear becomes “anxiety.”
Exhaustion becomes “burnout.”

Too often, women are asked to cope with harm rather than have the harm named.

Naming harm is part of healing.

🌈 Affirming care is not a trend.
It is a clinical stance.

At Currents Clinical Counselling, we believe:

• Your identity is not the problem. 🌈
• You deserve safety without explanation.
• Love does not need to be justified.
• You are allowed to exist fully and visibly.

✨ Affirmation is care.

Nervous System Regulation.

Regulation isn’t about being calm all the time.
It’s about building the capacity to feel, respond, recover, and stay connected — even when things are hard.

That capacity develops in safe relationships and supportive environments.

Healing so often happens in connection, not isolation.

Family can hold warmth, history, complexity, and growth — sometimes all at once.

For some, today feels joyful and connected.
For others, it may bring reflection, boundaries, or mixed emotions.

Wherever you find yourself this Family Day, your experience is valid.

Wishing our community steadiness, care, and meaningful connection. 🤍

We are deeply saddened by the tragedy in Tumbler Ridge.

There are no words that can fully hold the weight of this kind of loss. In times like these, it is natural to experience shock, grief, anger, fear, or numbness.

We are holding the Tumbler Ridge community in care and compassion. 🤍
