PUBLIC SAFETY ALERT: Spike in suspected overdoses

The Fredericton Police Force (FPF) is warning the public of a concerning spike in suspected overdoses in the community.

Since Wednesday morning, FPF has responded to 17 calls for service related to suspected overdoses as of approximately 9:30 a.m. this morning (Oct. 30), with medical/overdose calls continuing throughout the day. Some incidents have involved multiple people experiencing suspected overdoses at the same time, as well as back-to-back calls.

FPF urges people who use drugs to be especially cautious:

• Never use drugs alone.
• Carry naloxone and know how to use it.
• Avoid mixing substances.
• Call 911 immediately if someone becomes unresponsive or you suspect an overdose.

An overdose is a medical emergency. Call 911 immediately.

The Chief Public Health Officer 2026 report, “The State of Public Health in Canada 2026,” is now available: https://www.canada.ca/en/public-health/corporate/publications/chief-public-health-officer-reports-state-public-health-canada/public-health-2026.html

The report examines seven population health trends that offer insight into the health of people in Canada today. They include years in good health, mental health, toxic drug harms, sexually transmitted and blood-borne infections, measles, cancer, and wildfires.

It also outlines three areas that will help inform the CPHO’s priorities moving forward: supporting the health and well-being of younger populations, strengthening prevention and preparedness, and building knowledge, trust, and public health leadership.

Brandon not only keeps the building clean and maintained well, he also contributes in many wonderful ways. He has a keen sense of attention to detail; he notices things that need to be seen and taken care of. He notices people’s needs and he offers others such kindness. His gentle and kind way of being helps people feel safe and supported in his presence.
Brandon came to this role that was something entirely new for him and yet he immediately fit in with skill and ease as a valuable team member. His smile and sense of humour is a gift to everyone; he can lighten the mood and bring such positivity to any space.
