This page is a bit buried on the CDC site, but it has all the answers to your COVID testing requirement questions! It confirms that you can test any time on the day before your flight to the US, and that you don't have to test to drive across the border.

What COVID test do you need to go to the states? If you find it confusing, you aren’t alone!! Even our own MP Mark Gerretsen seems to think you need PCR! You don’t.

-To go TO THE States by plane you need an antigen test within 3 CALENDAR DAYS. Hours don’t matter. Cost is about $40. Lots of places do it, as do I.

-To COME BACK to Canada, you need a MOLECULAR test within 72 hours of departure. Cost is about $200, although I’ve had patients say they found free ones. CVS seems to have lots of (not free) locations

-If you will be in the states for a short time, you can use the same PCR test to get in AND back, as long as the test is taken within 72 hours of return. Considering that results take at least 24 hours to come back (which would have to happen before you go to the US) that would be a short trip!

-Currently those able to cross the border by land require NO test or vaccine. Once the border opens you will have to show vaccine but what test is required hasn’t been published yet.

This is becoming a little simpler. Vaccine supply is starting to match demand. When pharmacies get shipments, they use their waitlists to send booking links. These lists are being taken care of quickly.

I wish there was better news. For now, if you are on multiple pharmacy waitlists you are doing all you can to get your vaccine. There is no booking (yet) for those with underlying conditions, but it's coming. For now, we are helping qualified patients to book with the health unit if they are struggling to use the online system. If you have any questions about the vaccine or booking, please send us a message! It's a free service. Stay safe, everyone.

If you are 60-64 at any point in 2021, there is still plenty of vaccine here for you in Kingston at many local pharmacies with minimal wait time.

One of the most common questions I seem to get right now: "Is the AstraZenica Vaccine safe?" To quote directly from the attached article, "Millions of people have received the shots without safety problems, and the European Medicines Agency found no evidence of any causal link with blood clots or abnormal bleeding."
