Broda Broda manufactures premium wheelchairs, seating products, and accessories for long-term care. When it comes to essential comfort, Broda is the premier choice.

With over 40 years of experience in long-term care, Broda understands that comfort and safety are essential. We offer a full line of chairs and wheelchairs, including products for tilt-in-space positioning, mobility, rehab, and other advanced care needs. Our goal is to provide patient and caregiver safety, ease of use, reliability, regulatory compliance, and return on investment. The Broda Comfort Tension Seating® “Suspension System” is the key to providing a comfortable, functional chair. Each strap conforms individually to the user’s body, suspending their weight across multiple points. This strapping system reduces discomfort from a bottomed-out cushion or extra pressure from a sling-type seat. The straps have “memory retention;" after applying pressure, they will return to their original shape within seconds. Combined with state-of-the-art tilt and recline functionality, Comfort Tension Seating® can reduce the risk of pressure injuries, falls, and other painful and costly injuries. When it comes to ensuring your comfort and safety in long-term care, Broda is the premier choice.

Some residents need stretcher transportation due to specific medical conditions. Others can travel seated but need more positioning support than a basic transport wheelchair.

The Traversa™ Transport Wheelchair has tilt, recline, and supportive seating features, and can replace up to 90% of stretcher trips while fitting in your facility’s existing vehicles.

Before automatically scheduling another stretcher trip, consider what your resident needs during transportation.

“Need” has a funny way of feeling like a tomorrow problem.
You can still make it through the grocery store, even if you're exhausted afterward. You can still attend church, even if you spend the next day recovering. You can still visit the grandchildren, even if some outings have become too difficult.
When a doctor or therapist suggests a wheelchair, it's easy to say, “Not yet.”

But that hesitation often has less to do with the wheelchair itself than with what using one seems to represent.

Our latest article explores wheelchair stigma, identity, grief, independence, and the very human reasons people sometimes wait to accept mobility support.

Your ZIP code shouldn’t choose your wheelchair.
The right seating depends on the person who will use it: how they move, how they sit, the support they need, and what daily life asks of the chair.

Broda gives you access to seating solutions for a wide range of mobility, positioning, and care needs.

Don’t start with what happens to be convenient. Start with what fits your needs.

Why Pay for Two?
Two operators mean two sets of wages assigned to one trip. Multiply that amount throughout your weekly transport schedule, and the labor costs add up quickly.

The Traversa™ requires only one operator per trip, keeping another driver available for transports that require additional assistance.

“What type of wheelchair do I need?” sounds like a simple question until you start looking at the options. They don't all solve the same mobility problems.

Someone who needs occasional help getting from one place to another may have very different seating needs from someone who spends much of the day in a wheelchair. A person who self-propels needs something different from a passenger who regularly travels in an NEMT vehicle.
That's why choosing a wheelchair starts with how it will be used.

Our guide walks through eight common types of wheelchairs, including transport options like the Broda Traversa™, and explains what each type is designed to do.

What does “WC19 compliant” mean? It's more than a label on a wheelchair.
WC19 establishes requirements for wheelchairs used as seats in motor vehicles. A compliant wheelchair must meet specific criteria, including a 30-mph frontal-impact crash test, four accessible securement points, compatibility with vehicle passenger safety belts, and proper labeling.

WC19 isn't the only consideration when choosing a transport wheelchair, but it tells you something important about how that wheelchair has been designed and tested for vehicle transportation.

This week, we're recognizing the pediatric nurses who care for children through some of their most difficult days and celebrate progress alongside their families.

That care takes clinical knowledge, patience, careful observation, and an understanding that every child responds differently.

Thank you to the pediatric nurses who make children and families the center of their work.

Two-person transports can complicate schedules, limit route flexibility, and tie up drivers who could be completing other trips.

The Traversa™ gives NEMT providers a more efficient option. One operator can safely manage the transport, freeing other drivers for additional trips without losing sight of passenger safety and comfort.

Don’t Get Left Behind.
The equipment available to NEMT providers has come a long way. For many trips, a stretcher no longer represents the only option.

The Traversa Transport Wheelchair can handle up to 90% of trips that would traditionally require a stretcher. For appropriate passengers, it gives NEMT providers another transportation option.

One operator can manage the chair, while adjustable seat height, recline, and lateral-transfer capabilities support a wider range of passenger needs.

Some NEMT providers now rely solely on Traversa wheelchairs as the primary transport for their fleet.
