Enjoying this Thanksgiving Monday out in the community at the Oktoberfest Thanksgiving Day Parade!

We’re grateful for all Waterloo Regional Health Network (WRHN) team members, Waterloo Regional Health Network Foundation, volunteers, donors, and community partners, and for the patients and families who trust us with their care every day.

Today is World Mental Health Day, a reminder that behind every smile, every shift, and every day, there may be a story we cannot see.

Mental health journeys are not always linear. Some days are filled with hope, while others may be harder to navigate. If you're struggling, please remember: you are not alone.

We honour the resilience of those facing challenges and celebrate the courage it takes to reach out, speak up, and keep moving forward.

A special thank you to our WRHN team members working in mental healthcare and support services, who help people feel seen, valued, and supported during some of life's toughest moments. Your compassion makes a difference every day.

If you or someone you know is struggling, reach out. A conversation, a kind word, or asking for help can make all the difference.

This time of year is filled with family dinners, celebrations, and community gatherings.

As you spend time with friends and loved ones this weekend, help keep everyone healthy. If you’re feeling sick, consider staying home and celebrating another day. It’s a simple way to help protect older adults, young children, and others who may be more vulnerable to illness.

Need care over the holiday weekend? Visit KnowYourCareOptions.ca to find the right care in the right place, whether that means self-care, a pharmacy or urgent care, there are options for you.

🥷 Masters of meal times. Champions of nutrition. Guardians of great patient care. 💙🍽️

This Nutrition & Food Services Week, we're recognizing the teams at Chicopee, Queen's Blvd., and Midtown. Armed with teamwork, expertise, and a commitment to excellence, they help keep patients nourished, comforted, and supported throughout their care journey.

Their work may happen behind the scenes, but their impact is impossible to miss.

Thank you for bringing ninja-level precision, heart, and hospitality to every tray, every meal, and every patient experience.

🎸 This Healthcare Supply Chain Week, we're shining a spotlight on our Sourcing and Stores teams at Waterloo Regional Health Network!

From ensuring essential supplies are available across our sites to securing the equipment, products, and services our teams rely on every day, their work helps make outstanding patient care possible.

While much of their work happens behind the scenes, their impact is felt throughout WRHN every day. Join us in celebrating these dedicated team members whose expertise, collaboration, and commitment help deliver high-quality care and advance health for the communities we serve. 💙👏

Welcome, October. 🍂

A new month brings many moments to pause, learn, celebrate and show up for one another.

Throughout October, we recognize a wide range of health, cultural, faith and community observances, including World Mental Health Day, National Coming Out Day, Canadian Patient Safety Week, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Canadian Islamic Heritage Month, Women’s History Month and many more.

Some of these moments are about celebration, while others bring opportunities for awareness, reflection and advocacy. Together, they help deepen understanding, strengthen connection and create more inclusive spaces where people feel seen, respected and supported.

Here’s to a month of learning from one another, honouring what matters and making room for every story. ✨

Today, September 30, we reflect on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day. We honour the children who never returned home, Survivors of residential schools, and the families and communities who continue to carry the impacts of this history.

At Waterloo Regional Health Network - WRHN, team members, patients, visitors and community members are invited to take part in ceremonies and opportunities for reflection throughout the year, including Smudging Ceremonies, Sacred Fires and Drumming Circles. Today, we raise the Survivors’ Flag as a symbol of remembrance and our continued commitment to Truth and Reconciliation.

Wearing orange today is one way to show support, but listening, learning and reflection must continue throughout the year. As healthcare providers, we remain committed to building trust with Indigenous communities through dignity, respect and compassion.

Every Child Matters. 🧡
