Happy Thanksgiving!

This Thanksgiving, we have SO much to be thankful for!

Our campaign to bring healthcare closer to home has received tremendous support from our communities, and for that, we are incredibly grateful!

From individuals and families to local businesses, organizations, corporate partners, volunteers, and everyone who supported our Chase the Ace fundraiser, each of you has played a part in bringing this project closer to reality.

As we look back at just some of the incredible people and organizations who have supported us along the way, we're reminded of what makes our northern communities so special. ❤️

We also want to extend a heartfelt thank you to our anonymous donors. Whether you choose to be publicly recognized, remain anonymous, or give quietly without a plaque or naming opportunity, your generosity is equally valued and deeply appreciated.

Every donation, every ticket purchased, every hour volunteered, every conversation, and every act of kindness has truly made a difference.

Together, we're helping create a place where our Elders, families, friends, and neighbours can receive the care they deserve, close to home.

From all of us, THANK YOU! We wish you and your families a wonderful Thanksgiving! ❤️

Please note: These photos represent just some of the many incredible supporters of our campaign. To everyone who has contributed in any way, thank you!

Spotlight Saturday!

Another incredible Spotlight Saturday as we recognize another local family and business making a difference in our community!

This week, we're shining the spotlight on La Ronge Plumbing & Heating for their generous $12,000 donation to sponsor a Resident Suite within the new La Ronge & Area Long-Term Care Home! ❤️

Bob & Lisa have called La Ronge home for over 30 years and have deep roots in our communities.

Bob has operated La Ronge Plumbing & Heating since 1996, with Tyson joining as co-owner in 2002. Together, they continue to serve our communities through their business.

Lisa and Tiffany are also familiar faces in our local business community, having owned and operated The Fox Clothing Store since 2016!

For this family, supporting the new Long-Term Care Home is about something close to their hearts: ensuring our Elders can continue receiving the care they need, close to home, surrounded by their families and community.

Thank you to Bob, Tyson, Lisa and Tiffany for your generosity, your longstanding commitment to La Ronge & Northern Saskatchewan, and for helping us work towards our $5 million fundraising goal! ❤️

Every dollar makes a meaningful difference in helping us reach our goal.

Thank you, Rise Air & Athabasca Basin Development, for your generous support! ❤️

We truly appreciate having you as partners as we continue working towards our $5 million fundraising goal to help bring healthcare closer to home by furnishing and equipping the new La Ronge & Area Long-Term Care Home, Dialysis Unit & Expanded Therapies Area!

More than 2,400 seniors across 70 communities call northern Saskatchewan home. With just 18 long-term care beds available to serve the entire region, the need for a larger facility was clear.

On June 16, 2020, the Government of Saskatchewan announced its commitment to expand La Ronge's long-term care capacity from 16 to 80 beds. In 2023, the La Ronge & Area Long Term Care Fundraising Committee Inc. was established to raise $5 million in support of the new care home and dialysis unit.

In August 2026, Rise Air celebrated 30 years of Medevac service in partnership with La Ronge EMS. During the event, Rise Air and majority owner Athabasca Basin Development announced a combined donation of $42,000 to support the long-term care facility.

"We believe that creating a positive impact in our communities and for our employees, stakeholders, and customers is at the heart of our mission," said Dan Gold, Director of Marketing and Stakeholder Relations at Rise Air. "As our population ages, facilities like this will become increasingly important. Caring for our seniors is a responsibility shared by all of society."

Geoff Gay, CEO of Athabasca Basin Development, added, "It is our pleasure to contribute to this project. What makes this donation especially meaningful is that two of our ownership communities will directly benefit from the facility. Supporting initiatives like this is important to Athabasca Basin Development."

Jacob Page, Fundraising Coordinator for the La Ronge & Area Long Term Care Fundraising Committee Inc., accepted the donation on behalf of the committee, helping bring the project one step closer to reality.

"I'd like to thank Rise Air and Athabasca Basin Development for their contributions to our fundraising efforts," said Page. "We have reached more than 67 per cent of our $5-million goal, and 85 per cent of those donations have come from local supporters."

At Rise Air, we are proud to support initiatives that strengthen northern communities. Providing Medevac services 24/7 is a key part of serving the community, but we wanted to go further, by contributing to this important project, we are helping create a lasting impact for seniors and their families across northern Saskatchewan.

A Time to Give Thanks, and a Time to Give Back.

As Thanksgiving approaches, we have so much to be grateful for.

Over the past year, individuals, families, businesses and organizations from across our region and beyond have stepped forward to support our campaign to furnish and equip the new 80-bed La Ronge & Area Long-Term Care Home, Dialysis Unit & Expanded Therapies Area.

Every donation, large or small, is helping create a home that will serve residents, patients and families across northern Saskatchewan for generations to come. ❤️

As we enter the final months of 2026, it’s also a great time to consider year-end giving. If you’ve been thinking about supporting the campaign, donations made before December 31 are eligible for a 2026 charitable tax receipt.

You can donate online and receive an instant tax receipt through our CanadaHelps link below. If you’d like to discuss multi-year giving or a naming opportunity, please reach out to Jacob Page directly at [email protected] or 306-714-0033.

This Thanksgiving season, we are incredibly thankful for everyone who has donated, volunteered, shared our campaign, attended an event, purchased a ticket, or helped us along the way.

There is still work ahead, but we wouldn’t be where we are today without you!

Thank you for helping us bring this new home to life. 🏡❤️

This week, we’re honoured to shine the spotlight on Anne & Jim, two longtime La Ronge residents whose connection to our community spans generations. ❤️

Anne was born at home on the shores of Lac La Ronge in 1936 and spent the first 20 years of her life here. At the time, high school wasn’t available in La Ronge, so she travelled to Prince Albert to complete her education and later took an office and business course.

Jim was born to Ukrainian immigrant parents on a farm near Leofnard, Saskatchewan.

The two married in 1959 and made La Ronge their home, taking over the Boarding House operated by Anne’s parents.

Before roads connected northern communities the way they do today, Northerners would fly into La Ronge for medical appointments and care from the local doctor and nurse, and many stayed at the Boarding House. Anne spoke Cree, which helped her communicate with many of the guests who stayed with them.

Over the decades, Anne and Jim became deeply woven into La Ronge.

They co-owned the Riverside Motel and Wapawekka Camp, as well as two apartment buildings, one of which Anne still owns and manages today!

Anne worked as a waitress, bookkeeper, and Returning Officer for both federal and provincial elections. She also served on the hospital board and hospital fundraising committee in the early 1990s. Together with Gill Gracie, she helped preserve our community’s history in the book Builders, Movers, Shakers, Scoundrels, Scamps and Just Plain Good People.

Jim worked as a gas attendant, at the Anglo Rouyn Mine, for the Town of La Ronge, and with various mining companies throughout his career.

The importance of long-term care in La Ronge has long been close to their family.

They saw firsthand what could happen when Northerners requiring long-term care were placed in facilities hundreds of kilometres away. Families were separated by distance and difficult travel and, in some heartbreaking cases, residents placed in southern communities never saw their family members again.

Anne’s own mother would later become a resident of the long-term care ward at the La Ronge hospital.

Their story is a powerful reminder of why bringing healthcare closer to home matters.

For more than six decades, Anne and Jim built a remarkable legacy in La Ronge through their businesses, volunteerism, community involvement, and service on local boards and committees.

We are incredibly grateful for their support of our campaign and for the lasting contributions they have made to La Ronge and the North. ❤️

Thank you, Anne & Jim, for being part of the story of our community.

🧡

The new La Ronge & Area Long Term Care Home will feature a Traditional Room. In this dedicated space, residents and their families can gather for ceremonies, prayer, healing and cultural practices.

Elders helped guide the vision for this space, ensuring it reflects community traditions and supports the healing process.

On this National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we honour the survivors, families, and communities impacted by residential schools, and reaffirm our commitment, not only in the work we do but in the lives we live, to creating spaces where Indigenous traditions and healing are respected and supported.

$35,000. ❤️

In February 2025, our local Royal Canadian Legion #371 officially committed $35,000 to our campaign to bring healthcare closer to home, sponsoring a Tub Room in the new La Ronge & Area Long-Term Care Home!

Yesterday, following an amazing week of celebrations marking 100 years for the Royal Canadian Legion, and 65 years in La Ronge, the Legion presented the official cheque to our Director, Karla Hardcastle!

Thank you again to our incredible Legion team for spending countless hours fundraising through TGIFs, Soup & Sandwich sales, and so many other initiatives , and to everyone who volunteered behind the Legion bar, where all tips went directly to the LTC Fund.

It is absolutely incredible what can happen when a community comes together for a single cause. ❤️

Congratulations on 65 years of the La Ronge Legion, and thank you for your incredible fundraising efforts and continued commitment to bringing healthcare closer to home!

Every dollar makes a meaningful difference in helping us reach our goal.
