Marilyn McEwen was waiting in her car to pick up her granddaughters when her youngest, MacKenzie, noticed something was wrong. Marilyn was having trouble speaking.

Her older sister, Payton, recognized the signs of a stroke and ran to call 911.

Within minutes, Marilyn was on her way to London Health Sciences Centre, where the stroke team was ready for her arrival. Just one hour after her stroke began, blood flow to her brain had been restored.

When a mother-to-be first learned she was expecting, she was preparing financially and emotionally for one baby. Then she learned she was expecting triplets.

She was overjoyed—but the news also brought a very real sense of uncertainty. Working as a social worker on a contract basis, she knew that taking maternity leave with three babies instead of one would place significant pressure on her finances.

Thanks to the generous support of Shoppers Foundation for Women's Health, the Shoppers Women’s Care Cupboard at London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC) became an unexpected source of comfort and practical support throughout her journey.

From prenatal vitamins and pregnancy essentials to diapers, wipes, formula, bottles and breastfeeding supplies, the cupboard provided essential items for both the mom and her babies—helping ease some of the financial stress and making the transition home from the NICU a little easier.

We are incredibly grateful to Shoppers Foundation for Women’s Health for their generous $50,000 gift to LHSF in support of the Shoppers Women’s Care Cupboard. Thank you for your incredible generosity and for your continued partnership in supporting women and families in our community. 💛

We’re hiring! We’re looking for a collaborative, relationship-focused fundraising professional to join our team as Development Officer, Events & Community Engagement.

In this role, you’ll support a diverse portfolio of community fundraising initiatives, including grassroots fundraisers, large-scale community events, peer-to-peer campaigns and standalone fundraising initiatives. You’ll work with volunteer committees, community organizers and hospital partners to help bring fundraising ideas to life, while supporting peer-to-peer campaigns, fundraising sites and email communications.
