Kellie’s Testimonial
“Hello! My name is Kellie. I’m originally from Newfoundland and Labrador, where I grew up. I have lived in different places over the years, including New Brunswick and I recently moved back to Toronto.
I was first diagnosed with breast cancer in Toronto 20 years ago. Throughout my journey, I experienced a lot of frustration because I wanted to learn more but there was very limited information available. I could find bits and pieces here and there but it was not enough.
I have only been here at the Pink Arrows Retreat for three days but I have already learned so much. It has been such a valuable and inspiring experience. I learned from the workshops and, most importantly, listened to other Deaf women share their experiences of living with breast cancer. That meant so much to me.
Thank God for Lucia Jackson for creating and organizing this retreat. This is the first ever Deaf led breast cancer retreat of its kind. I hope this will continue and happen again in the future. My goal is for us to carry this new knowledge forward and pass it on to the next group of breast cancer survivors who may have a similar diagnosis.
Keep going. Don’t give up. Support each other!
And this place is absolutely beautiful! The scenic view is breathtaking and the peaceful and quiet setting made it the perfect place for this retreat, which made the experience even more special. The food was delicious and GREAT! I can’t say enough about it!
As this retreat is coming to an end, I will not say goodbye. I don’t like goodbyes. Instead, I want us to stay connected and keep in touch virtually, whether through Zoom, texting or checking in with each other.
We will continue to support one another, stay strong and keep this positive energy going.
Thank you!”
