Zajac Ranch Zajac Ranch, located on the shores of Stave Lake, in Mission, BC, serves children with serious and chronic illnesses and disabilities during summer months.

Zajac Ranch is also open year-round to entertain group bookings. In 1999, Mel Zajac had a vision to build a ranch facility to provide camp experiences for children with chronic and life-limiting conditions throughout British Columbia and Canada. This vision was inspired by the incredible impact he has seen through the ‘Hole in the Wall’ camps created by good friend of the Foundation, Paul Newman. Launched five years later, Zajac Ranch for Children became a realization of this vision and remains the Foundation’s most ambitious project to date. Zajac Ranch, set within 44 acres of beautiful wilderness and western-themed camp facilities, rests on the shores of Stave Lake in Mission, BC. The ranch is conveniently located one hour east of Vancouver, BC, and can comfortably host 120 guests. In the summer months, Zajac Ranch for Children provides camps for children and young adults with chronic illnesses and disabilities. These experiences give participants the opportunity to explore the outdoors while developing greater social and environmental awareness, increased self-confidence and positive growth in attitudes towards physical activity.

Fall fun for the whole family!

On Oct 2 - Oct 5, we hosted our Fall Family Respite Camp and welcomed 13 families for a weekend of exciting group activities, with chances for caregivers to rest and connect with each other while our staff watched over the campers.

We are very grateful to Disability Alliance BC (DABC) for generously funding our Family Respite Camps this year, allowing us to offer subsidized rates to every family.

We want to thank the UBC Swim Team for coming out to Zajac Ranch for a retreat last month!

The Zajac Foundation and Zajac Ranch have been sponsoring the Annual Mel Zajac Jr. International Swim Meet since 1998 and we were thrilled to be able to give the UBC Team the full Zajac Ranch experience this year.

The team toppled our climbing wall, showed off their archery prowess, and made some unforgettable memories during their stay.

Winter at Zajac Ranch is anything but boring!

Led by our incredible staff, our activities are one of the biggest attractions for visitors, and for winter bookings of at least 3 days/2 nights, you can choose 2 of the following activities to be included in your stay:

Orienteering
Scavenger Hunt

Nature Hike

Book a 3 day, 2 night stay anytime from November to February and you will also receive 2 days complimentary use of our fantastic Indoor Gym or Arts & Cultural Centre.

A huge thank you to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Elementary School for coming out to visit Zajac Ranch again!

Between the climbing wall, high ropes, and Skynet, the students spent a lot of time up in the air! When they weren't in the sky, they were practicing archery and putting their teamwork skills to the test in our low ropes course. Even with all of these activities, our staff still found time to show the students a few magic tricks!

It’s the fourth week of September and that means it’s Gender Equality Week!

This week, first celebrated in 2018, is meant to highlight advances in gender equality and focus on efforts to close the gender gaps that continue to persist in Canada and the world.

At Zajac Ranch, we push for equality by ensuring fair and equal access to opportunities that enable people of all genders to grow and develop. Through our camp, children, youth and young adults are able to overcome these barriers and gain new experiences that they would otherwise not be able to.
