It was an honour to take part in last week's Walking Together event in recognition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

Gathering in nature, we listened to the lived experiences of Indigenous people, celebrated Indigenous cultures, and honoured survivors, their families and communities, and the children who never returned home.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, and a special thank you to partners: The Indigenous Network, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, The Riverwood Conservancy and Visual Arts Mississauga.

Reconciliation is an ongoing journey. We remain committed to working alongside Indigenous partners to address the inequities and systemic harms Indigenous peoples experience in healthcare. Learn more about our commitments to reconciliation: https://loom.ly/NPsRVGU

October is .

This month, we’re raising awareness about breast cancer and the importance of knowing the signs, understanding your risk, and staying up to date with recommended screening.

Regular screenings can help detect breast cancer early, when it may be easier to treat. If you have questions about breast cancer screening or your personal risk, speak with your family doctor.

If you don't have a family doctor and need support in booking a screening, please contact us at 905-362-3508.

Today, we honour and remember the lives of missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls and 2SLGBTQIA+ people (MMIWG2S+).

Sisters in Spirit was started in 2004 by the Native Women's Association of Canada to recognize the lives that had been taken and the profound impact on Indigenous families and communities across Canada. Every year on October 4, we remember, honour those whose lives have been lost, and recognize the ongoing need for justice and safety for all Indigenous women, girls, and gender-diverse people.

💙 Last Thursday, we were excited to take part in the University of Toronto Mississauga Be Well Mental Health Fair for the third consecutive year!

Members of our team connected with students, shared resources, and provided information about the Ontario Structured Psychotherapy program — a free program offering mental health services for adults (18+) experiencing depression and anxiety.

With more than 850 students participating in wellness activities, the energy throughout the event was truly inspiring. Thank you to UTM Health & Counselling Centre for putting a spotlight on student mental health and well-being.
