✨ WHAT IS REIKI? ✨
Reiki is a Japanese energy practice based on a simple principle: we are more than our physical bodies. Our emotional, mental, and energetic states are deeply interconnected, and when we create space for balance and relaxation, we also create space for ourselves to reconnect with a calmer and more centered state of being.
The word Reiki is commonly understood through two Japanese concepts: Rei, referring to universal or spiritual wisdom, and Ki, referring to life-force energy.
During a Reiki session, the practitioner does not use their own personal energy and does not force or direct a particular outcome. Instead, the practitioner acts as a channel for Reiki energy, allowing it to flow naturally while the recipient remains comfortably seated or lying down.
And Reiki does not feel the same for everyone.
Some people experience warmth or coolness, tingling sensations, waves of energy, heaviness or lightness in different areas of the body. Others notice colors, images, emotions, memories, or a profound sense of peace. Some simply become deeply relaxed or fall asleep.
And some people feel very little physically.
All of these experiences are perfectly valid.
Reiki does not need to produce a dramatic sensation in order for a session to be meaningful. Feeling more does not mean receiving more, just as feeling less does not mean that “nothing happened.” Every person experiences energy differently, and even the same person may have completely different experiences from one Reiki session to another.
One of the most beautiful aspects of Reiki is its simplicity.
There is nothing you need to believe, visualize, understand, or accomplish during a session. You do not have to belong to a particular religion or follow a specific spiritual path. Reiki can simply be received.
For many people, Reiki becomes a space to slow down, release the pressure of constantly doing, and reconnect with themselves.
For others, it becomes part of a deeper personal or spiritual journey.
And for those who choose to learn Reiki for themselves, it can become a lifelong practice of self-care, awareness, energetic balance, and connection.
Reiki is not about becoming someone different.
Sometimes, it is simply about creating enough stillness to reconnect with the part of yourself that has been there all along. ✨
