We're not in relationships to check boxes or perform roles. We're in them for something deeper.

Not to be rescued, but to be witnessed, supported, and chosen in our fullest form. Not to have someone complete us, but to have a safe place to come home to while we continue completing ourselves. Not to fix our wounds, but to be loved through the healing process without being shamed for our scars.

Not to always be happy, but to feel safe even when we're not. Not to avoid conflict, but to learn how to navigate it with care, curiosity, and clarity. Not to feel constant butterflies, but to build steady, sustainable connection through deep trust.

Not to become the version of ourselves someone else prefers, but to be deeply accepted as we are. Not for performance, but for partnership.

If you'd had people self ejecting out of your life all the time, wanting people to stay becomes hard. We get used to, it becomes "safer' to not want at all, anyone to stay or to be close with at all . That's the safe coping strategy for someone that suffered "abandonment ' . Equals, not wanting people 'at all'.

It’s easy to forget that we don’t always discover the best parts of ourselves on our own.

Sometimes someone notices our kindness before we do. They see strength we haven’t recognized yet. They tell us we’re capable of something we never imagined for ourselves. And little by little, we begin to believe them.

When you look back, you realize some of the qualities you’re most proud of didn’t start with confidence. They started with someone who saw something in you before you could see it yourself.

We become who we are in many ways, but rarely all by ourselves.
