Pacific Blue Cross Health Foundation is helping make that care more accessible with a $10,000 gift toward the Seniors Outpatient Clinic at Nanaimo Health Centre.

With expanded wound care, IV antibiotic therapy and other outpatient services, the clinic will give seniors and adults with specific health needs a dedicated place to receive treatment and support.

This gift reflects a shared goal: helping people manage their health so they can stay independent continue doing the things that matter to them.

We’re grateful to Pacific Blue Cross Health Foundation for supporting better care for North and Central Vancouver Island.

Meet the 2026 Pepsi Code Brew Scholarship recipient, Mac Wood!

For Mac, caring for others isn’t something that starts with nursing school. They have already been giving their time to our hospital community, volunteering with Code Brew and as a greeter in the Medical Imaging Unit at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital.

Through these experiences, Mac has seen firsthand the difference that kindness, connection and care can make. Now, they’re taking that passion into the next chapter of their schooling, with the goal of building a career helping others.

Mac has been awarded a $5,000 scholarship to support their education as they pursue a future in nursing.

Congratulations, Mac! We can’t wait to see where your journey takes you. ☕

A big thank you to Pepsi for making the Code Brew Scholarship possible and investing in the next generation of healthcare professionals.

Happy Active Aging Week!

Did you know that the Regional District of Nanaimo is hosting over 50 free activities this week for seniors to engage, connect, and get active? We're all about it!

For us, active aging means staying living independently, moving your body, eating healthfully, visiting loved ones, and having fun hobbies. For many older adults, that might mean walking the trails around Nanaimo, gardening, volunteering, spending time with friends and family, kayaking, or travelling - the sky is the limit!

At Nanaimo Lifeline, we believe safety and independence go hand in hand. A personal emergency response system can provide peace of mind for older adults and their families, helping people feel more confident staying active and living independently at home. We like to think of our service as an insurance policy - you won't use it every day (hopefully), but when the time comes, you'll be really glad you had it! Getting older shouldn’t mean giving up the life you love. ❤️

Check out the full slate of Active Aging Week activities at https://www.calameo.com/read/004883709cdfd69f47e83.
