Day Twenty- Two: Pause

Confession: I used to take my car through the car wash just to be alone in the quiet for a few minutes.
Some of my best 5 minutes happen in the driveway or a parking lot. Waiting for a friend or after dropping off someone to work or school. Engine off. Nowhere to be.

I used to think moments like this had to be earned, that sitting still with nothing to show for it was somehow wasting time. I don't believe that anymore. Sometimes the best thing you can do is just stay in the car for 5 more minutes.

Today's practice: slow down, right where you are.

Wherever you are right now, car, kitchen, couch, pause for a second before you move on to the next thing. Take one slow breath in, let the exhale release even slower and longer. Look around you, really look at whatever's in front of you.

That's it. No agenda, nothing to accomplish. Just a minute of being exactly where you are, before you're somewhere else.

Where could you steal 5 minutes like this today?

Day Twenty- One Self-Awareness

Why is everything anti-aging? Why not empowered aging? Embodied aging? The words we choose for our narrative are what we will feel in our bodies and the way we will think about ourselves. Choose wisely.

I think about this a lot. Anti-aging tells us every single day that the goal is to fight against something that's already happening, something natural and out of our control, something every living thing does.
What would it feel like to choose different words? Not anti anything. Just proud to have lived through so many things and survived, gathered wisdom, and yes, even some lines around our eyes or a soft belly.

Language isn't small. It shapes what we believe is possible for ourselves and shapes our confidence in ourselves.

Journal prompt: what's one word or phrase I've used about my own aging that I would like to reframe? And what will I replace it with?

Day Twenty- Gratitude

Happy Thanksgiving, Canada 🍁

I am as abundant as the world around me. I only have to pause to see it. I am thankful.

That's today's practice, really. Not a long list, not forcing anything. Just pausing long enough to notice how much abundance is already here. In the water that keeps flowing, in the colors of the season, in the body that's carried you through this whole year so far.

So today take a deep breath, look around, and let yourself notice what's abundant in your life right now. However small it feels it counts.

From my heart to yours, Happy Thanksgiving. I'm so grateful to be showing up alongside you.

Show up. Say the true thing. Take up. And today, give thanks ♥️

Day Nineteen - expansion in body and mind

Today's practice is expansion. Cat cow, side stretches, hip circles, reaching out through your fingertips and toes right to the edges of your own body.

Make room in your body on purpose and your mind will follow.

This isn't just a nice idea, it's how we're built. The body and mind aren't separate systems. When you physically expand, reach further and open through the chest, making more room than you usually allow yourself, something shifts internally too. A tight body tends to keep the mind tight right along with it. A body that's given permission to take up space gives the mind that same permission.

So this isn't really about the stretch. It's about what the stretch teaches you: that there's more room here than you think, in your body and in your life.

Bring your curiosity and explore. ♥️

Day Eighteen- Take up space- Be heard and seen

How we let others talk about us and how we talk about ourselves shapes how much room we think we're allowed to take up.

So often, women in this stage of life get spoken about like a condition instead of a person. A symptom list or a thing to be managed and scheduled around rather than someone with a name and a whole life behind her and in front of her.

Today's practice is about language. How do you let people talk about you? And just as importantly, how do you talk about yourself to others?

Changing it can start small, such as just noticing and being willing to say even just to yourself, 'that's not who I am.'

Show up. Say the true thing. Take up space.

Day Fifteen - Embodiment of Now- Grounding

Grounding and embodiment and why it matters now.

During menopause, so much can feel like it's moving at once: sleep, mood, temperature, energy, even your sense of who you are. Grounding practices are a way of coming back to something steady underneath all of that change: your own body, right here and right now.

Embodiment isn't about fixing anything. It's about actually living inside your physical body and feeling it rather than managing it from a distance which so many of us learn to do over the years. A few minutes of grounding, such as a hand on the heart, feet pressed into the floor or a slow breath signals to your nervous system that you're safe, even on the days, everything else feels uncertain.

This isn't a luxury. It's one of the simplest most direct ways to meet this chapter with more steadiness and more kindness towards yourself.

You don't need a mat or even that much time. You just need willingness to come back to your own body a little more often. ♥️

Day Fourteen - Who Am I Now - Self

Loss of identity felt during menopause is real and it's rarely talked about honestly.
The rules, the routines, the version of yourself you knew so well, some of that may be shifting and it can feel quite disorienting and many even feel a sense of grief.

But loss isn't the whole story. Underneath the parts that are changing, something is also forming. These questions aren't about rushing past what's hard. They're an invitation to sit with it honestly and get curious about who's emerging on the other side.

Take your time with these. There's no deadline for figuring it all out today.

1. If I stopped measuring myself against who I used to be, what would I notice about who I am right now?
2. What part of my identity do I feel I've lost, and is it actually gone, or just changing shape?
3. What's one part of myself that feels unfamiliar lately, and what might it be trying to become?

Share what comes up for you, if you feel called to. Someone else out there may need to hear it too ♥️

Day Thirteen - Say The True Thing- Self Compassion

I want to say something true: my relationship with my body has actually gotten better since menopause.

Not easier, not simpler, but better and more honest. I've had to stop ignoring what she's been telling me and start actually listening. I've had to let go of the relationship I had with her in my '20s and '30s and build a new one with someone who's changed and who deserves better than just being managed or tolerated, as though she's not a real partner in my life.

This is what The Hundred is about. Not fixing your body or fighting it back to some earlier version of itself, but cultivating an actual kind relationship with it as it is now.

This body is the one you're living in. She's carried you through everything to this point so far with as much grace as she could with the resources she was given. She deserves your attention, your patience and your care, not just your criticism.

If your relationship with your body hasn't felt kind lately, that's okay. It can begin to change, if you make the choice. ♥️
