Happy Grandparents Day!

Today, we celebrate the grandparents who bring love, wisdom, laughter and joy to our families! Some of the best memories are made in everyday moments like getting outside with family, enjoying a visit or being part of things that matter most.

For those who may be interested, applications for the Seniors Care Grant are open!

Nova Scotia Seniors can apply for a $750 grant to help with healthcare and household costs.

The annual Seniors Care Grant program has helped tens of thousands of people across the province with the cost of home heating, yard work, meal preparation, grocery and prescription medication deliveries, phone service and more to help people stay in their homes longer.

People 65 or older, with a household income up to $45,100, are eligible for the grant. They can apply:

-- by mail: Seniors Care Grant, P.O. Box 160, STN Central, Halifax, N.S. B3J 2M4
-- with print applications available at Access Nova Scotia centres or by calling 1-800-670-4357 (toll-free).

The deadline for applications is December 1.

Seniors who are signed up for direct deposit with the Canada Revenue Agency will receive funds through direct deposit. All other eligible applicants will receive their payment by cheque.
