We're thrilled to welcome Sheena Michael to the InspiAIR Newmarket team! ๐ŸŽ‰

Sheena is a Registered Respiratory Therapist with 10 years of experience in home care and sleep therapy, and she brings a deep commitment to personalized, patient-centered care to every client she supports.

Whether it's CPAP therapy, oxygen assessments, or helping patients feel comfortable and confident with their equipment, Sheena's approach has always been the same: understand each person's individual needs and help them breathe better, sleep better, and live better.

We're so lucky to have her. Welcome, Sheena!

Not all PAP therapy machines are the same, and knowing the difference could change your sleep.

CPAP, the most common. Delivers one continuous pressure level to keep your airway open all night.

BiPAP, delivers two pressure settings, one for inhaling and a lower one for exhaling. Often prescribed for patients who find CPAP pressure uncomfortable or have more complex breathing needs.

APAP auto-adjusts. Monitors your breathing in real time and automatically adjusts the pressure depending on your sleeping position, whether you're on your side or your back.

The right therapy depends on your diagnosis, your comfort, and how your body responds. Our team can help you understand your options and find the best fit. ๐Ÿ’™

Today we pause to honour and reflect. ๐Ÿงก

World Lung Day is a reminder that the breath we often take for granted is the foundation of everything. ๐Ÿซ

For the millions of people living with chronic lung conditions, COPD, sleep apnea, pulmonary hypertension, and more, every breath is something they work for. And for many, the right care and support changes everything.

On this World Lung Day, we want to remind our community that respiratory health is worth paying attention to, and that we are here whenever you need us.

One of the most common questions we get from oxygen therapy patients: "Do I have to wear my oxygen in the shower?" ๐Ÿ’ง

The short answer, it depends on your prescription and your oxygen saturation levels.
Some patients can safely remove their oxygen for a short shower without their levels dropping significantly. Others need to keep it on, or use a portable concentrator nearby.

A few things to keep in mind:
- Position your concentrator outside the bathroom to prevent electrical and moisture hazards
- Secure your tubing along a safe route to avoid tripping
- Angle the showerhead slightly away from your face to protect your nasal cannula and prongs from water droplets
- Use a shower chair or grab bars to reduce exertion and breathing effort

Not sure what's right for you? Our team can help you figure it out.

Summer has a way of throwing off even the most consistent routines: later nights, travel, irregular sleep schedules. And CPAP therapy is often the first thing that slips.

If you've been inconsistent with your therapy over the summer, you're not alone. But as September brings structure back to daily life, it's the perfect time to reset.

Getting back on track is simpler than you think. Start tonight. Even a few nights of consistent use can make a noticeable difference in how you feel.

Fall in York Region is beautiful, but for COPD patients, the season change brings real respiratory challenges. ๐Ÿ‚

Ragweed peaks in August and September, making it one of the most difficult times of year for anyone with lung conditions. Add cooling temperatures, increased indoor heating, and fluctuating humidity, and your lungs have a lot to manage.

Make sure to monitor the daily air quality index before heading out. Keep windows closed on high pollen days and make sure your medications are up to date before fall hits. Talk to your care team about adjusting your oxygen flow if needed.

Don't wait for a flare-up to take action. Talk to our team before the season peaks. ๐Ÿ’™
