A little update on Mom, life, and everything in between…
Today we met with radiation oncology and neurosurgery. Unfortunately, we learned that Mom’s brain tumours are inoperable. 💔
We’ve been given two radiation options to help reduce the tumours and swelling. More scans are needed to check whether the cancer has spread before deciding on treatment. We also have an oncology appointment in Brampton.
One of the hardest parts has been watching how drastically Mom has changed in just three weeks. She went from completely independent to struggling with everyday things.
She’s confused and struggles to communicate. She knows what she wants to say, but the words don’t make it from her brain to her mouth. She mixes up words and forgets simple names for things. Seeing her frustration is heartbreaking. I wish I could connect those dots for her.
I’m sad. I’m angry. I’m scared. I’m frustrated. Some days I don’t know what to do with these emotions. I just want my mom back. ❤️
I never imagined that just weeks after losing Dad, we’d be facing this with Mom.
Mom has moved in with us, and we’re doing everything we can to keep her happy, comfortable, and surrounded by love. ❤️ The grandkids have been incredible. My kids amaze me with their kindness, patience, and support. I’m so thankful for them because I truly don’t know how I’d get through this without them.
To my amazing patients: I expect to need time away from the clinic to care for Mom. If you’re hoping to get in before Christmas, please book sooner rather than later. I don’t know what the coming weeks will bring.
To everyone who has checked in, sent messages, or offered help — thank you. ❤️
I’m trying to keep up with messages, but I’m completely overwhelmed right now. If I haven’t responded, please know it’s not personal. I’m just trying to keep my head above water.
I’m juggling being a mom, daughter, nurse, business owner, and caregiver, all while grieving Dad. Some days I’ve got it together. Other days, not so much.
For now, we’re taking it one appointment, one day at a time.
Thank you for supporting my family and my little business. It means more than you know.
Much love,
❤️ Crystal
