Wishing everyone a happy Canada Day!
Self-compassion & self-care are essential pieces to parenting. If the grape juice isn't cutting it though, here are a few tips to help manage the summer chaos:
1. Keep the morning & bedtime routine the same- as much as possible. Same time, same steps. This will make the transition back to school easier (only 68 days for summer break!)
2. Set expectations you are able to follow through on, and let go of the ones you can't. This sets the stage to show that you mean what you say and decreases how much your child might try to test you.
3. If the "happy grape juice" isn't your jam, find your happy place activity. Take space when you need it, guilt free. A calm parent is more inclined to respond from a place of openness and empathy to the demands of parenting over summer break.
Wishing you the best of luck and a wonderful summer from Gamache Behaviour Consulting!

Bedtime routine... We can help with that!
There is a wealth of research to support the premise of how parent stress and childrenās challenging behaviour can impact family dynamics.
Dealing with tantrums, talking back, defiance and refusal to complete day-to-day routines can wear and tear on any parent and family relationships.
The everyday challenges can leave us feeling worn down, with little left over for the other areas of life that are important to us.
So, what do you do if you find life's balance seems off and the stress of parenting has become overwhelming?
