Gua Sha, otherwise known as “scraping therapy”, is an ancient Chinese medical treatment, usually used as a supplement to an acupuncture session.

Gua sha is intended to address stagnant energy in the body that practitioners believe may be responsible for inflammation. By rubbing the skin’s surface with a massage tool, the energy will be broken up, inflammation will be reduced.

Gua Sha also promotes healing.

Due to overuse or perhaps a repetitive motion injury from 30 years as a Massage Therapist – I sustained an injury.

For three years both of my arms were in excruciating pain. Whenever I reached back in any fashion, I was stopped by the pain and therefore had extremely limited range of motion that impeded the simplest tasks; to get something out of the back seat of my car or anything behind me, it felt like I was being stabbed. Have you wondered what cupping really was?

Cupping is an ancient technique used in many cultures in which a special cup is applied to the skin and held in place by suction.

The suction draws superficial tissue into the cup, which may either be left in place or moved along the body. Cupping brings fresh blood🩸 to the area and helps improve circulation.

Traditional cupping, sometimes referred to as “fire cupping," uses heat to create a vacuum-like suction inside of glass cups. In modern times, cups that use a small pump to create suction have also been introduced.

Stretch marks are caused by continuous stretching of the skin.

Puberty, sudden weight gain, and pregnancy can all cause stretch marks.

Their appearance can be improved by microneedling over the area of damaged tissue. The microscopic injuries caused by microneedling stimulate collagen production, which then improves the appearance of some scars and wrinkles.

What is acupuncture? I'm sure you've asked yourself that question before!

Acupuncture is a key component of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The body forms disharmonies as a result of the various physical and mental stresses of life. Oriental medical theory explains these disharmonies as an imbalance of opposing forces called yin and yang ☯️.

This imbalance disrupts the movement of the body's vital energy (qi) along the meridian pathways, which are channels through which the body's energy is thought to flow.

Hi everyone, I'm Renee, owner of Centered Wellness Acupuncture.

I have always been passionate about Traditional Chinese Medicine, but it took me a while to make it my final destiny.

I have had an interesting life journey from motherhood to going back to school where I became a nurse, to experiencing loss which changed my whole perspective.
Finally, this led me to going back to the oldest Traditional Medicine school in Canada where I found my true self.

I am trained in acupuncture, and in wide array of Chinese medicine modalities, massage therapy, and cosmetology. I use my skills not only to provide services like microneedling, cupping, and food therapy, but to also teach courses to registered professionals. I specialize in autoimmune disorders, fertility, trauma interrupted healing and cosmetic acupuncture.
