Hello, October! 🍂

A new month and a new season is a fresh opportunity to slow down, reconnect, and make space for the things that bring you meaning and joy.

As recreation therapists, we believe meaningful recreation isn’t “just an activity.” It can support connection, confidence, independence, emotional well-being, and a greater sense of purpose. 🤎

This October, let’s embrace the little moments — getting outside for a crisp fall walk, sharing a laugh, trying something new, revisiting an old favourite, or simply making time for what makes you feel like you.

Here’s to a month filled with connection and purpose!

Meet Rosie 👋🏻

Rosie is an 11-year-old, tri-coloured Australian Shepherd. She is a sweet, friendly girl who loves having a job. She has the softest fur, loves being brushed and enjoys being patted. She can do lots of tricks for a treat, and like most Aussies, she is a smarty pants!

Rosie is Melanie’s beautiful dog and is now taking on a new role as a therapeutic support animal that joins Melanie in some of her recreation therapy sessions!

We are so happy to have Rosie on the Flow recreation team!

3 years of Flow recreation therapy ✨

3 years of laughter, connection, community and growth.

We have grown our team, our community, our abilities, and our love for what we do!

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for 3 of the most wonderful years.

Flow was built off a dream, a dream to bring better recreation programs and recreation therapy services to everyone in our community regardless of their abilities. That dream has become a reality and we couldn’t be more proud of the work the Flow team does everyday to build a more inclusive, accessible and accepting community.

Happy 2026!

With a new year comes new intentions. New hopes, desires and goals for a year just starting.

1- lean into what feels right: we so often can let our brain over analyze and think about all the external factors and catalysts that go into every decision. This year we are leaning hard into what makes our hearts soar!

2-less screen time more presence (isn’t this one that comes up a lot?)

3- Practice more self compassion: we are always our own biggest critics. This year we are striving to speak to ourselves as we do friends, family and clients and give ourselves more grace.

4- choose progress over perfection: just taking a step in the right direction matters, chasing perfection is a losing game but chasing progress- that is where the magic happens!

5- exercise my mind and body regularly: now this isn’t huge dreams like run a marathon, this is more mental health walks, group classes, reading, breathing and manageable stress reducers that will feed our body and mind!

We want to hear what some of your intentions for this year are 👇🏻(saying it out loud means we can cheer you on!)
