Affect labeling simply means “putting our feelings into words”.

While it may sound easy, it’s not always the case when we can feel so many emotions at once [use our previous post with the Wheel of Emotions to help narrow down what you may be experiencing]

Try affect labeling when new emotions arise - it could be writing down one word, texting an emoji to a friend, or saying your emotion out loud! Notice if this labeling changes how the emotion feels in your body.

The Pomodoro Technique is a popular study strategy that uses time blocks to focus your attention. Try setting a timer for 25 minutes and staying on task. When time is up, take a 5 minute break to stretch your legs, get a snack, or scroll through social media. Continue this cycle three more times and reward yourself with a longer break!
