Happy New Year!

Wishing you all joy, happiness & health for 2021!

2020 was an interesting year to say the least. It was not the easiest first year for our clinic (not recommended, haha), but it has shown all of us what is truly important and was a year of great growth.

We thank you for sticking by us during this first wave of the pandemic and we hope to be able to open soon during this second wave. Thank you to all those who have participated in our workshops, workouts and yoga sessions. Your faith in us to provide you with the care you need during this difficult time is greatly appreciated.

Looking forward to being back with you soon (hopefully)!

Cheers to 2021!

Happy international nurses day!

Now more than ever we are thankful for the hours put in, the sacrifices made, and the help given. Often a thankless profession but one so desperately needed and appreciated.

If you know a nurse, today is the day to thank them.

Thank you for everything!

Always learning something new to help you guys feel better and be better. Most don’t realize their diet may be the cause of their pain. Can’t wait to read this and help you, my clients, on the other of recovery.

I’m often asked by patients if they should use heat or cold after an injury, or to treat pain. The answer is, it depends. If you want to reduce inflammation (swelling) during the acute phase of injury, your answer is ICE. Especially during the first 48-72 hours. However, never put the ice directly over your skin, always wrap it in a towel in order to protect your skin from damages (ex: frostbite). Studies have shown that cold therapy the days following an injury plays a factor in pain levels.

Heat on the other hand will help in the short-term management of pain, especially for chronic low back pain. There are studies that suggest using heat before exercise may help reduce to reduce muscle soreness by warming up the muscles and increasing blood flow to the area before the activity.

Today is world health day, this year we honour nurses and midwives, but also all other healthcare workers who do so much for our well-being.
With everything going on with Covid-19, take the time to thank healthcare workers for everything they do. They are putting their lives on the line everyday in order to help others.
To all the nurses and healthcare workers a MASSIVE thank you for all that you do. We appreciate you! 📷 World Health Organization

LEG DAY!

This is a body weight leg workout to do at home. We are going to be using the Tabata method:

1 tabata set consists of 8 rounds. Each round is comprised of 20 seconds of maximum effort, and then 10 seconds of rest.

Tabata set 1: body weight squats (4 minutes)
1 minute rest
Tabata set 2: Bulgarian split squat (4 minutes)
1 minute rest
Tabata set 3: rear lunges (4 minutes)
1 minute rest
Tabata set 4: step-ups (4 minutes)
1 minute rest
Tabata set 5: single-leg raises (4 minutes)
1 minute rest
Tabata set 6: wall sits (4 minutes)

If single leg calf raises are too hard, simply do normal calf raises, and do forward lunges if you don’t have the necessary balance to do rear lunges.

Here is another at home workout for you guys. Just make sure when your doing your split squat to go deeper (I can’t due ...

Here is another at home workout for you guys. Just make sure when your doing your split squat to go deeper (I can’t due to injury). Make sure your movements are controlled. Use the 2-2-2-2 tempo:

-2 seconds down/up
-2 seconds hold
-2 seconds up/down
-2 seconds rest

Let me know what you think if you’ve tried it out.
