When Rachel logged in for her Initial Consultation with her ND, she wasn't sure anything could help her. After explaining how she's been diagnosed with depression by her MD, her Naturopath asks her lots of questions to understand her full health picture and what may be contributing to her depression.
After looking at the lab work her MD originally ran, our ND also ordered thyroid and other hormone tests, and vitamin tests as well as explored inflammation. It turns out, that Rachel had a very underactive thyroid gland, insulin resistance as well as many nutrient deficiencies which may have been due to a lack of proper nutrition and digestion for many
Rachel's ND suggested she speak with her MD to properly treat her thyroid disorder and they put together a plan to help address the digestive system, nutrient deficiencies and insulin resistance. Nutrition changes, exercise and vitamin supplementation were part of the full plan.

Judy booked in to talk to us about her IBS symptoms. She complained about feeling bloated, uncomfortable and gassy most days. Her bowel movements were all over the map. Some days are hard to pass and other days very loose. She'd felt this way most of her adult life.
Our Naturopathic Doctor decided to run some specific tests to understand Judy's symptoms. They ordered a stool analysis which revealed high inflammation, yeast overgrowth and low levels of good bacteria. Blood work was done and Judy had a severe B12 and Vitamin D deficiency.
Since Judy noticed a connection between stress and her symptoms, her ND referred her to see a therapist and an energy healer. Herbal treatments, nutritional changes and supplementation was suggested to Judy and a 2-month follow-up appointment was booked.

It is common sense that frequently moving our body is important for our health. The research is also clear - sitting is the new smoking.
The research suggests frequent movement (every 30 -60 mins, walk for 2 mins - go to the washroom, grab some water, chase your dog around the yard) improves circulation, lowers blood sugar and insulin.
All of these factors contribute to cardiovascular disease and this is the biggest health concern for women.
After 18 months of staying home more often - sitting on our couches and make-shift at-home offices I urge you to get yourself moving.
A standing desk is better but actually not the solution. You need to MOVE.

Set a reminder on your computer to get up. 🚨
Drink enough water that your bladder forces you to get up 🥤
Place your yoga mat on the floor of your office space as a visual reminder to stretch. 🧘🏼♂️
