High homocysteine? B vitamins are part of the story.

Fullscript looked at lab results from +96,000 de-identified patient profiles.
About 1 in 4 profiles with optimal folate levels still had above-optimal homocysteine.

High ferritin doesn't always mean too much iron.

Fullscript looked at thousands of de-identified lab results to see how ferritin behaves next to other common markers. When ferritin was above optimal, an above-optimal ALT (a liver marker) showed up almost twice as often. That's a link. It doesn't prove one causes the other.

The research also found that ferritin is a weak stand-in for an inflammation test.

Ferritin makes more sense when a provider reads it next to liver and inflammation results, whether it's your lab report or your patient's.

A single lab result only tells part of the story.

Our medical advisory team compared lab results from 96,797 patient profiles.

Here's what stood out:

🔎 Above-optimal ALT, a liver marker, was nearly twice as common with above-optimal ferritin.

🔎 Above-optimal homocysteine was more common with low folate, low B12, or lower kidney function.

🔎 Above-optimal triglycerides were twice as common with below-optimal omega-3 status.

These are links, not causes. "High" means above Fullscript's optimal range.
A result outside Fullscript's optimal range* is not a diagnosis. It's a reason to start the conversation.

The FDA just recalled a "fat burner" found to contain an undeclared prescription drug and DNP, a toxic industrial chemical that has been linked to deaths.

It was sold directly to people online, with no quality controls to verify what was actually inside.

What you put in your body deserves more than a good ad. Before you take a new supplement, look for products that are third-party tested and from a reputable source.

A "normal" magnesium result and an optimal one aren't always the same thing.

We looked at more than 10,000 RBC-magnesium results across our clinical dataset. 88.4% fell below the optimal range, while only 4.4% fell below Quest's lower reference limit. Most results, 83.9%, landed between those two thresholds. Same measurements, very different classification depending on where you draw the line.

There's another layer worth sitting with. Magnesium is distributed largely inside cells and tissues, while serum magnesium stays tightly regulated. That means different tests hand you different pieces of the same clinical picture.

For patients with factors that can affect magnesium status, including long-term PPI or diuretic use, the test you choose, the threshold you apply, and the broader clinical context all shape what you do next.
