What an incredible night! A stellar array of acclaimed Canadian Artists gathered on Southam Hall stage to honour Canadian icon, k d lang 🫶

Our IATSE Local 471 Makeup & Hair team did an incredible job taking care of all of the talent who took the stage performing some of kd’s greatist and most beloved songs.

My favourite part about my job? Making people feel good about themselves and being a safe and calm space. I get to meet and work with such amazing humans, there’s times that it doesn’t even seem real. Seeing posts like Deantha Edmunds’ about how I made them feel brings a happiness to my heart that I can hardly put into words. Thank you for trusting me for your special performance Deantha, those moments will always hold a special place in my heart ❤️

I had the honour of providing makeup for Canada Day opening act, the incredibly talented Deantha Edmunds! Deantha is Canada’s first Inuk professional classical soprano. Performing ‘Anânak silatsualimâk’ in Inuttitut and accompanied by the amazing percussionist and composer, Rob Power.

On a day filled with chaos, it’s your people who keep you grounded. Canada Day 2026 definitely did not go as planned for many reasons, but our team stayed strong, worked together, and supported each other. Even when we were trapped in our trailer due to the storms, it was all smiles and laughter filling our little space. The evening show was eventually cancelled and we were shuttled out to safety. Thank you for being you. I appreciate you all, more than you’ll ever know 🥹❤️ Happy Canada Day! 🇨🇦⛈️
