Why does lifestyle medicine bring kids with autism to speech and independence?
Because it's not a diet. It's one of the most evidence-based fields in holistic health — physicians board-certify in it. I trained through the ACLM and Weill Cornell. And it has SIX pillars. Everyone only ever talks about one.
Here's the full picture:
🥗 NUTRITION — Yes, it matters. But it's ONE pillar out of six. Your child's entire body is dependent on the input of nutrients, amino acids, and much more. Food is the foundation, not the whole house.
🧠 STRESS — This is nervous system regulation. A dysregulated nervous system cannot learn, cannot connect, cannot speak. Calm the body first — speech needs somewhere to land.
🤝 CONNECTION — This is the one everybody obsesses over. Inclusion, inclusion, inclusion — while the other five pillars get ignored. I'm going to say it: acceptance without biology is just a poster.
🏃 MOVEMENT — Some kids are getting eight hours of screens a day. This pillar gets skipped entirely — and dopamine pays the price.
😴 SLEEP — Studies show kids on the spectrum aren't sleeping to the full recommendations — most are missing two to three hours, and 50–54% struggle with sleep quality. You can't build a brain on a body that never rests.
🚫 RISKY SUBSTANCES — For our kids, this means reducing the toxic load. These children are already overburdened — every exposure we can remove matters.
All six serve one thing: the developing brain. That's the big one. That's why this works.
Save this. Share it with the mom who's only ever been told about one pillar.
