Out with the old, in with the new!
But... sometimes it's not so simple. Case in point: this lovely client of Ali's who wanted to go blonde, but found herself stuck with the remains of last year's permanent colour.
There are limits to what's possible, and to what the health of the hair will allow. The old red wouldn't come out entirely, so the client had three choices:
1 - cut off all the old colour
2 - change her colour choice
3 - opt for an in-between look to allow the old colour to grow out
Option 3 was chosen, and Ali lightened the existing colour to a cute pastel and blended it into a full head of foils.
This troubleshoot looks completely intentional, and it allowed the client to still get the blonde she wanted WITHOUT having to sacrifice length.
Win-win, and the hair is left healthy and shiny.
Sometimes, you've just got to pivot. Trust your stylist, trust the process, and trust that you'll leave absolutely loving your hair.
