A heartfelt thank-you to MG alumni Alyssa Canning, RMT, Ashley Sahota, RMT, and Teresa Koelewyn, RMT, for attending BRA Day Vancouver on October 14.

BRA Day🌸🌸Breast Reconstruction Awareness Day, brings patients, healthcare professionals and community resources together to share information about breast reconstruction options, hear lived experiences and support informed choices.

This is how the Mastectomy Guide community continues to grow beyond the classroom: coming together, building connections and continuing to learn so we can better support people navigating breast surgery and recovery.

I am incredibly honoured and humbled to receive the Annual Award of Excellence for Contribution to the Profession.

Standing there and accepting this recognition was truly a meaningful and unforgettable moment for me. I don’t see this award as an individual achievement, but rather as a reflection of the people, experiences, opportunities, and communities that have shaped my journey and allowed me to grow along the way.

I am especially grateful to have shared this moment together with The Mastectomy Guide an organization and community that continues to inspire me through its commitment to education, support, and empowering those navigating their breast cancer and post-mastectomy journeys. Being part of this work makes this recognition even more meaningful.

To the Registered Massage Therapists Association of British Columbia thank you for this incredible honour and for recognizing the work and contributions we make to our profession. It is a privilege to be part of a community that continues to learn, grow, support one another, and strive for excellence.

I accept this award with a deeply grateful heart and with renewed inspiration to continue contributing, serving, and making a meaningful difference through the work we do.

Meet Your October Retreat Instructors: Eryn & Cathy ✨

Meet the instructors who will be guiding massage therapists through our in-person Breast, Chest & Oncology Massage training this October.

Eryn and Cathy bring clinical experience, hands-on knowledge, compassion, and a shared commitment to helping massage therapists build confidence in supporting clients before, during, and after breast and chest surgery.

This in-person training is an opportunity to learn practical techniques, ask questions, build hands-on skills, and deepen your understanding of working with clients affected by breast cancer and oncology care.

Because this work is more than just massage—it’s about understanding the person, their journey, and how we can provide thoughtful, informed support along the way.

For some women, life after mastectomy means choosing to go flat. For others, it may mean reconstruction. There is no single “right” way to move forward.

After mastectomy, the choice is yours. Whether you choose to go flat, have reconstruction, or take time to decide, your decision deserves to be respected and supported.

Today, we honor the women who choose to go flat and remind every breast cancer warrior:

Your body. Your choice. Your journey. Your strength. 🎀
