🍁 Happy Thanksgiving! 🍁

This Thanksgiving, we're celebrating what makes us proud to be Canadian: our strong sense of community, compassion, and commitment to caring for one another.

We're especially grateful for our valued clients, whose continued trust and support mean so much to us, as well as our Canadian partners, healthcare professionals, and everyone who works tirelessly to make a difference in the home healthcare industry.

As a proudly Canadian company, we're honoured to support an industry dedicated to improving lives and helping people receive the care they need.

Wishing our clients, partners, and communities a safe and wonderful Thanksgiving!

Please note that our office will be closed on Monday, October 12.

Today, we recognize the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day. September 30 is a day to honour residential school Survivors, the children who never returned home, and their families and communities. It is also an opportunity to listen, learn and reflect on the ongoing impacts of the residential school system and our individual roles in reconciliation.

The National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation encourages Canadians to turn learning into action through its 6 Actions of ReconciliACTION: Learn, Understand, Explore, Recognize, Take Action and Teach Others.

We encourage our community to take time today to listen to Indigenous voices, learn more about the history and legacy of residential schools, and consider what meaningful reconciliation can look like in our own lives, workplaces and communities.

This weekend, Align Home Health Care was proud to sponsor the Hotel Dieu Shaver Foundation’s fourth annual Hope in Motion fundraiser, with members of our Align Niagara team joining patients, staff and supporters at Canada Games Park.

It was inspiring to see 211 members of the Niagara community come together to celebrate recovery milestones and raise more than $69,500 in support of patient-care equipment at Hotel Dieu Shaver Health and Rehabilitation Centre.

Hope in Motion is a powerful reminder that progress looks different for everyone
and that every step forward matters.

Thank you to the Hotel Dieu Shaver Foundation, the participants, volunteers and everyone who helped make this year’s event such a success.

We were proud to be part of it.

This week, the senior team at Align Home Health Care was excited to visit one of our proudly Canadian manufacturing partners, Power Plus Mobility, at its state-of-the-art facility in Guelph.

As a Canadian-owned provider, Align is working closely with our partners to ensure we continue to support the production of high-quality equipment right here in Canada.

We thank Jason Mohan, President and Owner of Power Plus Mobility, and his team for their support and hospitality.

This exciting organization employs dozens of Canadians who work hard to supply our clients with quality wheelchairs, seating, and commodes. Align will always work to promote a Canada-first selection process where clinically appropriate.

Organizations like Power Plus make that easy.

June 15 is World Elder Abuse Awareness Day.

Elder abuse is not always obvious, and it is not always intentional. It can include physical harm, emotional mistreatment, financial exploitation, healthcare fraud, and neglect.

Recognizing the signs matters. So does taking responsibility when something feels wrong.

By staying informed, checking in, and speaking up when concerns arise, we can help create safer, more respectful communities for older adults.

Together, awareness becomes action and action helps protect dignity, safety, and care for every senior.

Caregiver burnout can come with a lot of guilt, especially for parents caring for a child with complex health needs.

You may feel guilty for being tired. Guilty for needing a break. Guilty for feeling frustrated. Guilty for wondering why something rooted in so much love can still feel so overwhelming.

But burnout does not mean you are failing or that you love your child any less. It often means you have been carrying too much, for too long, without enough support.

Our latest article looks at why caregiver burnout happens, why guilt is so common, and why asking for help is not selfish, it is part of protecting both your well-being and the care you are able to give.

Caregiver burnout is common for parents of children with complex health needs. Feeling exhausted or needing help does not mean you are failing.

At Align Home Health Care, our work is rooted in helping people move through the world with greater dignity, safety, independence, and confidence. As a mobility provider, we know support can take many forms, from the equipment that helps someone navigate their daily life, to the respect and care that allows someone to feel accepted as their full self.

That belief extends to our clients, our staff, our families, and every member of the communities we serve.

This Pride Month, we celebrate the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and reaffirm our commitment to creating a welcoming, respectful space where people can show up as who they are, in their homes, in their workplaces, and in their lives.

Because care should always begin with dignity and respect.

Happy Pride from all of us at Align Home Health Care. 🌈
