Small Business Week, October 19 to 23.
There are days when running a small business feels like juggling seventeen things at once while trying to remember where you put your coffee (or ginger ale). And then there are moments when I stop, take a breath, and realize just how lucky I am to do what I do.
Serendipity Yoga & Wellness is so much more than a business to me. It’s a community. It’s the people who show up on their mats, the conversations before and after class, the laughter, the small victories, and the moments when someone realizes they’re stronger or more capable than they thought.
It’s watching people build strength, find a little more ease in their bodies, manage stress, and discover that taking care of themselves doesn’t have to be complicated or perfect. It just has to start somewhere.
Running a small business is, without a doubt, the toughest job I’ve ever had. There are long hours, hard decisions, plenty of behind the scenes work, and a whole lot of learning as I go. Some days, I’m the yoga teacher, accountant, marketing department, maintenance crew, and customer service representative. Sometimes all before lunch.
But it’s also the most rewarding work I’ve ever done.
Prince Edward County isn’t just where I run my business. It’s home. This is where I’m from, and being able to build something meaningful in the community I call home makes this journey that much more special.
I’m incredibly grateful for every person who has taken a class, bought a pass, attended an event, shared a post, recommended Serendipity to a friend, or simply encouraged me along the way. You are part of this little business, and I don’t take that for granted.
Small Business Week is a good reminder that behind every small business is a real person, a whole lot of hard work, and a reason for doing what they do.
I’m grateful that I get to do mine.
Here’s to keeping our community moving, breathing, laughing, and growing together.
