Every so often, a class unfolds in a way that is even better than I could have imagined. This week in Resilient Girls was one of those moments.
Our crystal was sodalite, and our intention was teamwork and communication.
We divided into small groups and challenged the girls to work together to design and teach their very own yoga class.
What started as a fun, creative activity opened the door to some incredibly meaningful conversations about group projects at school, presentations, navigating different personalities, feeling excluded, not being heard, and finding the confidence to speak up.
After each group taught their class, we gathered to reflect. What worked? What was challenging? Did everyone feel included? How did we navigate disagreements? What would we do differently next time?
And yesterday, one child shared something that really stayed with me.
She wished school could feel more like our studio. A place without bullying, where she felt safe to participate, learn, and be herself.
That one comment meant so much to me.
When children feel heard and valued, something shifts. They become more willing to try new things, share their ideas, make mistakes, and work through challenges together.
At RVN, yoga is so much more than movement. It's an opportunity to practice communication, navigate challenges, build meaningful connections, and discover that your voice matters.
We're not just teaching kids yoga. We're giving them opportunities to build confidence, compassion, and resilience through real experiences and meaningful connections.
And sometimes, the most meaningful lessons aren't the ones we planned at all.
