Hot take: you don’t need to feel β€œcalled” to sound healing to become a great practitioner.

Maybe you’re passionate about it.

Maybe it complements the work you already do.

Maybe you saw an opportunity to create another stream of income and thought, wait… this actually makes a lot of sense.

All valid.

I don’t think wanting to make money from something automatically makes the work less meaningful. You can care deeply about the experience you create and build a profitable business around it.

The important part?

Get educated. Take the work seriously. Become really fu***ng good at what you do.

Your reason for starting doesn’t have to be profound.

What you do with it afterward matters a whole lot more. 🩷🀘🏻

A few moments from my dearest friends Marilyn and Josh’s wedding this past weekend, though I wish I had captured a thousand more. 🀍

I don’t think I could ever put into words how much love I have for these two. My heart is so full after a weekend spent with some of my favourite people, celebrating a love that means so much to me.

What a beautiful thing it is to witness two people you love so dearly build a life together. I can’t wait to watch all the beautiful chapters still to come. πŸ₯ΉπŸ€

The best weekend celebrating you, and somehow we get to do it all over again in Calgary in just a few short weeks!

Can’t wait to watch you marry your person. 🀍

I think I finally figured out why I’ve written and rewritten my business course approximately 700 times. πŸ˜‚

I was trying to make a business course into a mentorship program.

And that’s just… not what it is.

A course is there to teach you the foundations, the strategy, the systems and give you the tools to build your business……Mentorship is different.

It’s having someone actually in your corner. Someone who knows your business, knows what you’re working toward, can help you figure out what to focus on next, work through the things keeping you stuck, and support you as you actually build it.

Once I separated the two, everything started making SO much more sense.

The business mentorship program is now almost finished and I’m so excited to start welcoming new clients over the coming months, starting with those already on the waitlist. 🀍

And for everyone who’s been asking for something a little more accessible with ongoing support…

Level 2 is coming too!

Stay tuned. There’s a lot happening behind the scenes.

I’ve been told more than once:

β€œAs someone in the wellness space, I expected you to show up differently.”

Apparently teaching sound healing means I’m supposed to be an angel.

But truthfully, I like my rough edges. I like being direct. I like questioning things. I like having strong opinions. And I like that I don’t fit perfectly into the mould of what a sound healer is β€œsupposed” to be.

Because if I tried to look, sound and act like everyone else…

I’d just be another sound healer.

And I’ve never wanted to be that. 🀘🏻

I’ve been in this industry long enough to watch ideas, offers, training structures and little details I’ve introduced into my business eventually start showing up elsewhere.

And I’m not going to pretend it’s never bothered me. πŸ˜‚

When you spend years building, testing, changing and investing in something, it can be frustrating watching someone else use what you’ve built as their starting point. (And using Ai to repurpose it).

There’s a difference between inspiration and imitation, and I’ll always advocate for creating your own s**t.

But I’ve also realized that if people are paying that much attention to what I’m building, I’m probably doing something right.

You can recreate an offer. You can copy a structure. You can add the same features.

But you can’t copy the experience, ideas and thinking that created it.

And you can’t copy what someone is going to think of next.

So now? I notice. I laugh. And I get back to building.

I’d rather spend my energy creating what’s next than worrying about who’s recreating what I’ve already done.

Things I intentionally DON’T teach.

I think there’s sometimes this idea that the more topics you can squeeze into a certification, the better the certification must be. Or the longer it is, the more qualified it is.

I don’t agree.

Part of becoming a better educator for me has actually been getting more comfortable saying: this isn’t mine to teach.

Trauma awareness is probably the best example.

Of course I teach responsible facilitation. We talk about sound sensitivity, body responses, what to watch for, setting expectations, participant autonomy, communication and creating an environment where people feel comfortable adjusting their experience.

But I’m not a trauma specialist.

So why would I position myself as qualified to educate someone else in trauma?

I think trauma deserves more than a module inside a sound healing certification. If someone wants trauma-informed education, I genuinely believe they should seek that education separately from someone who is specifically trained and qualified to provide it.

And I think it’s fair to ask the same question of ANY certification:

What qualifies the person teaching me this particular subject?

There are things I could add to my training that would make the curriculum sound bigger, more spiritual, more impressive or more comprehensive.

But that isn’t the goal.

The goal is to teach what I know, teach it incredibly well, stay curious, stay within my scope, and give students the foundations to eventually become practitioners who sound absolutely nothing like me.

Because I don’t think a great teacher needs to teach you everything.

I think they need to know what they’re actually qualified to teach.

And yes… I’m aware this one might start a conversation. πŸ˜‚

Sound healing, but make it Brand Royalty ✨

There’s something so special about bringing this work into spaces where wellness gets to become part of the entire experience, not just an activity on the schedule.

My second year creating a Luxury Sound Lounge at Brand Royalty and somehow it just keeps getting better. Watching this event grow from last year to this year was so incredible, and I’m so grateful to have been a little part of it.

Luxury events + intentional wellness experiences will forever be one of my favourite combinations.

Thank you Brand Royalty for having me back 🀍

Same time next year?
