Carla Wainwright Creatrix Creatrix | S*x, Love & Relationship Coach | Priestess | Embodiment & Breath Facilitator

I started practicing yoga in 1996, the original motivation — to touch my toes! I had no idea the journey I was beginning to undertake would be so profound and transformational. Almost 20 years later, I can touch my toes, and along the way I discovered that my talent and my passion has become helping others nourish their unique journey toward self discovery. While most of my retreats and offerings are open to all, I am particularly passionate about helping women explore the divine feminine and embrace their indwelling power, the Shakti nature within. This work entails going deep, uncovering blocks, becoming embodied, balanced and strong on all levels, ultimately, becoming comfortable with feminine creativity, sexuality and personal power. As I continue the personal practice of embracing Shakti, I experience my evolution forward into myself. An increasingly empowering and liberating experience, I can’t help but feel compelled to help others (primarily women) experience this for themselves. I am the founding owner of Chinook Yoga in Prince George, BC and a Director within the Primary Faculty of the SOYA Yoga Teacher Training Program. I have more than 18 years of yoga teaching experience and have taught many practitioners to become yoga teachers themselves. I am also a Doctor of Homeopathy and I love to creatively integrate the principles of Yoga and Homeopathy to help unlock a student’s deepest potential within.

Over the weekend I took a trail I hadn’t walked for a while. Towards the end, on a slope tucked in the trees, lives a whole cluster of tiny houses tucked into the hillside. Someone, or maybe a group of someones, built a little village there a long time ago.

They’re worn now, weathered by years of rain and snow. And they’re still completely magical. And I really took the time to look at each little door and window, and felt a huge slice of joy come over me.

The first thing I thought of was Sigrit from the movie Eurovision. If you haven’t seen it, Sigrit is an Icelandic singer who believes in elves with her whole heart. She visits their little houses, talks to them and asks for their help, and she never once apologizes for it.

What I love about Sigrit is that she takes magic seriously. Whether the elves are real hardly matters. What matters is that she gives wonder her full attention, as if it counts. And it feels like somebody on that trail did the same thing: they built a village for no reason except delight.

Most of the women I work with stopped making room for that years ago. Every hour has to earn its place, and anything without a measurable return gets cut first. It might feel like that makes sense, but it costs more than we realize.

So consider this your invitation to treat the small wonders in your life the way Sigrit treats her elves - like they matter. Because they do!!

Tell me in the comments: where’s your elf village? I mean the spot, the view or the little ritual that still stops you in your tracks.

A few moments of gratitude from this past week in the garden, the forest, and by the river. 🍂
Nature is fully shifting into autumn, but a few things didn’t get the memo - like late-season strawberries, raspberries and peas still ripening, and a brand-new lupin popping up out of nowhere.

Gratitude isn't just an idea in your head - it’s a physical signal sent to every cell in your body. When we drop into gratitude, stress hormones like cortisol drop, feel-good chemicals like dopamine and oxytocin release, and our heart rhythm smoothes out. It’s a direct message to your nervous system that you are safe to land.
As we head into Thanksgiving weekend in Canada, what is one small thing bringing you gratitude today? 🌾

Your body is exhausted, but your nervous system hasn’t got the memo. It’s still scanning, still bracing, still running on stress hormones long after the day is done.

You can’t think your way out of that. But what if your body could learn to come down on its own?

That’s what Nervous System SOS: Wired but Tired is all about. It’s hands-on and experiential, and you’ll walk away with tools you can use on your own, every day:

* Simple movements and proven exercises to help your body let go of built-up stress
* Breathwork you can use anywhere, in a few minutes, to change how you feel
* 3 accessible yoga poses to slow everything down and let your system reset

Chewie is officially in her Second Spring, and honestly? She’s never looked better. 🐔✨

She’s done laying eggs, her feathers are thriving, she’s setting firm boundaries, and she’s fully stepped into her menopausal glow-up.

If a silky chicken can step into her Second Spring with this much grace and authority, so can you. 😉

(And hey - if you’re ready to navigate your own second spring glow-up, send me a DM. We can chat about your feathers whenever you're ready.)

Shoulders up by your ears. Jaw clenched. Mind still racing at midnight.

That's what modern life feels like for so many people I work with. Full calendars, full inboxes, bodies running on stress hormones and willpower. And it shows up everywhere - in our energy, our sleep, our metabolism, our mood.

But what if you had the foundational tools to meet that life differently? More energy. More clarity. More ease in your own body.

I'm so excited to share this!! I'm back to leading in-person workshops - one a month, alternating between nervous system support and metabolic health. Small groups, real practice, and the science behind why it works.

The first three are set:

Sat, Oct 24 - Nervous System SOS: Wired but Tired
Release the stress your body is holding with body-based release practices and breathwork.

Sat, Nov 28 - Restored
The science and somatics (body-based practices) of energy, blood sugar and deep sleep.

Sat, Dec 12 - Nervous System SOS: Grounded Through the Holidays
Getting through holiday stress, practices you can use in the middle of a family dinner, and boundaries you can actually hold.

Each workshop runs 1-3:30pm in Prince George. $80 + GST. Only 10 spots per workshop.

Your body already knows it can't keep running like this. Grab your spot through the link in my bio - I'd love to see you in the room.

Who says gut health and metabolic nourishment can’t taste like rich, chocolatey indulgence? 🍰🍫✨

Plus it’s squash season!! 🎃

Kabocha squash brings a natural sweetness, silky texture, and a burst of polyphenols and prebiotic fibers that your gut microbes love - paired with high-protein cottage cheese and Greek yogurt to keep your blood sugar steady.

Ingredients:
* 1 cup cottage cheese
* 1 cup Greek yogurt
* 2 eggs
* ½ cup kabocha squash puree
* ¼ cup almond flour
* 1 tbsp honey + monk fruit drops to taste
* 1 tsp vanilla extract
* 1 tsp cardamom
* Pinch of salt
* ½ cup cocoa powder (mixed into second half of batter)

Instructions:
1. Blend all ingredients except cocoa powder until smooth.
2. Pour half the mixture into a parchment-lined pan.
3. Blend cocoa powder into the remaining batter, spoon on top, and swirl.
4. Bake at 330°F (165°C) for about 35 minutes - middle should still be soft, so don’’t overbake. Cool, slice, top with fruit, and enjoy!

Yesterday I spent the day at the SD57 Indigenous Day of Learning, leading two workshops for educators called Conscious Breathing in the Classroom.

This work comes from the International Breathwork Foundation's curriculum and adapted practices for different grade levels. Watching grown adults who spend all day regulating everyone else's nervous system finally get into their own bodies was a joy!!

Breath is the most powerful tool we have to regulate our nervous system, shift our emotional state, and get grounded no matter what's happening around us. I'd love to see it built into the regular curriculum from kindergarten on, so that by the time kids hit their teens, it's just something they already know how to do.

It doesn't stop mattering once we grow up either. I use breath with my clients constantly, because it works the same way whether you're five or fifty. Your body doesn't age out of needing this. Ever.

Curious what breath work could actually do for you? That's exactly the kind of thing we map out in a Making Sense of It Session. Link in bio.

And a special shout out to the amazing Lynette Lafontaine who made me these incredible beaded earrings. ❤️

Even within the exact same vegetable family, different varieties offer distinct plant fibres and polyphenols - and your gut microbes thrive on that diversity. 🎃

When we think about gut health, we often focus on eating more vegetables. But your microbiome actually thrives on diversity. An acorn squash, a delicata, a pumpkin, and a pattypan might all be squashes, but their distinct fibres and natural pigments feed a much broader range of beneficial gut bacteria. 🌿

Mixing up your varieties (whether from your garden, the grocery store, or the farmers market) is one of the easiest ways to support a resilient microbiome and fuel your overall metabolic health.

Which squash variety are you adding to your plate this week? 👇

Midlife isn’t just about balancing hormones or getting better lab results. What happens when things look better on paper, but you still feel disconnected from your body, your energy or even who you are outside of everything you do for everyone else?

Carla joins Sherri Griggs on The Balanced Body Podcast to talk about what can happen when women begin looking beyond the physical changes of perimenopause and menopause. They explore our complicated relationship with productivity and rest, reconnecting with pleasure and desire, listening to what our bodies are telling us, and how those changes can ripple into our relationships, boundaries and sexual wellness.

It’s also a conversation about letting go of the idea that the goal of midlife is to get back to who you used to be. Instead, what could this stage of life look like if you gave yourself space to discover who you’re becoming?

Breathing in the forest aerobiome 🌲✨

When you step off the pavement and into a living ecosystem, you aren’t just getting “fresh air” - you’re literally inhaling a natural probiotic.

Every breath exposes your body to a rich mix of airborne beneficial bacteria, harmless viruses, fungal spores, and plant compounds called phytoncides.

This microbial diversity inoculates your respiratory tract and skin, helping to:

🌿 Train and recalibrate your immune system
🌿 Build overall resilience in your body
🌿 Naturally reduce inflammation

Your microbiome thrives on environmental diversity. Stepping out into nature is one of the most effective (and free!) ways to nourish your internal ecosystem.

When was the last time you took a deep breath in the woods? 👇
