Exhibit 783 of why workouts take 1 billion hours and usually remain unfinished and forgotten 🤣

I was filming to check my form because of a persistent discomfort in my left shoulder; clearly playing it back I need to practice what I preach so don’t look too closely! Gotta do what you gotta do with kids on your lap mid pull down 🤷🏼‍♀️

We have plans at Edgy Fit to help support our moms in their fitness routine! Stay tuned for more information on a fun partnership with FRN for childcare during our classes. We can’t wait to help our moms focus on their mental and physical health ❤️

Ideally I would be switching up my workouts every few weeks, focusing on progressive overloading and challenging my body to see improvements. But the truth is, I’m lucky if I have time to even get a workout in at this point 🤣

I posted a few weeks ago saying I’d share my workouts; these are the 3 main workouts I’ve done over the last 5-6 months in my postpartum. The weight has changed over time but the exercises have been the same until I find some time to do my own programming.

My current split is 3 weighted workouts a week as seen in the video. I also do pelvic floor/core exercises at the beginning (not shown in video) that I can share if wanted!

On the days in between these workouts I often do a Peloton ride of choice, maximum 1-2 per week, but these are the workouts that often get skipped. I am also currently coaching volleyball and teaching classes so I’m easily getting my steps in without necessarily needing a cardio workout.

At the end of the day the takeaway is we are ALL busy and sometimes we put too much pressure on ourselves to be perfect. Sometimes simple is best, fast and efficient, and always better than doing nothing!

Meet Krista, one of our trainers at Edgy Fit! Krista is available to take personal training clients…but stay tuned for some fun pop up surprises with her in the near future 🙌🏻

“Hi, I’m Krista! I’m a Certified Personal Trainer, but I’m also a mom of two who understands that exercise has to fit into your current season of life. I know what it feels like to rebuild your strength, work around limited time and energy, and try to care for yourself while caring for everyone else.

I’m currently accepting 1-on-1 virtual and in-person clients, with a special interest in core and pelvic floor function, pregnancy and postpartum training, and helping women see what they are capable of and become more consistent with a plan that fits their lives.

You may also see me at the gym for pop-up classes and specialty programs, including Built From Within, coming soon.

If you want support but aren’t sure where to begin, send me a message. 🤍”

This video is super special to us because a few weeks ago Brenda could not get into this position to use a barbell. With some patience, practice, mobility with Shania and years of strength training, she was finally able to use the barbell comfortably and safely! It was a very exciting day!

We asked Brenda to share why she started and why she keeps going:
“I started attending the Strength for Longevity class at Edgy Fit in 2019 after not having gone to a gym for many years. I was walking regularly but had a chronic condition that at times caused pain and fatigue and I also had recently experienced a major health event. I wanted to do more to try and be proactive about my health. I met with Alyssa and she assured me I would be able to handle the classes if I wanted to give it a try.

I was nervous about starting ~ I had attended fitness classes previously and never felt comfortable nor confident. I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to do the exercises but I knew I needed to do this for myself. I took the big step of signing up for classes and it was a great decision! After a few classes I wasn’t nervous anymore. The instructors and others made me feel welcome and gave me confidence to continue. I was shown how to do exercises properly and my progress was celebrated. I was also challenged to try things I never thought I would be able to do or to increase my weight or repetitions. If there was something I couldn’t do we modified the exercise to something I was capable of doing.

The class participants really care and encourage each other. I have never felt embarrassed about my capabilities. We have lots of laughs but also lots of support.

I keep going back because I am proud of what I have accomplished and it helps me feel that I have some positive impact on my health. Sometimes I feel liking skipping a class because I’m tired or I hurt or I’m just not motivated but I keep going. I know at the end of class I will feel tired but also physically and mentally in a better place.

I still surprise myself when I am able to do something I could not do even six months ago. I often wonder where I would be physically if I did not attend these classes.” -Brenda J

A popular assumption is that seeing results in the gym requires hours and hours. The reality is consistency is key.

Try to start with something manageable like 1-2 times per week. Focus on getting that workout in consistently 1-2 times per week for a few months. Once that feels like a new normal, add some more in! Do this consistently for 6 months to a year and before you know it, it’s a lifestyle. Not a perfect one but a consistent one.
