Sometimes anxiety doesn’t feel like anxiety.
It can feel like:
🌪️ Restlessness feeling like you need to move, do something, or get away.
🔥 Anger irritability, frustration, impatience, or feeling easily triggered.
🫣 Embarrassment or shame especially when you’re worried about how others see you.
🦋 Attraction butterflies, heightened attention, nervousness, and a faster heartbeat.
⚡ Adrenaline sweaty palms, trembling, rapid breathing, and a pounding heart.
🔮 A gut feeling that strong sense that something is wrong, even when you can’t identify why.
And sometimes…
anxiety can even feel like excitement.
That’s because both can activate your nervous system. Your heart speeds up. Your breathing changes. You become more alert. Your body gets energized.
The difference may not be in the sensation itself, but in how your brain interprets it.
“Something good is about to happen.” → Excitement.
“Something bad MIGHT happen.” → Anxiety.
And sometimes, you can feel both at the same time. 🫶
So the next time your heart is racing, instead of immediately asking:
“What’s wrong with me?”
Try asking:
“What am I expecting right now? What is my body trying to communicate with me? Do I need to have a word that describes it or can I just connect with the sensations?
Sometimes understanding the feeling starts with simply giving it a different name.
