Why naturopathic medicine at The Menopause Clinic?

Because menopause care is about more than hormones!

When I envisioned The Menopause Clinic, I wanted to bring together healthcare professionals who could support women through all aspects of midlife health.

Menopause hormone therapy can be incredibly helpful for the right woman. But it doesn’t replace the foundations of good health.

😴 Sleep matters. Quality sleep is essential for our physical and emotional wellbeing, and evidence-based approaches like CBT-I can make a real difference.

🥗 Nutrition matters. What we eat plays an important role in our metabolic health, muscle, bone health and overall wellbeing.

🌿 Lifestyle matters. Movement, stress management and sustainable daily habits are essential parts of healthy aging.

And sometimes, women want to explore natural approaches alongside conventional medical care.

That’s why I’m excited to have Dr. Jen Pilon, ND, as part of our multidisciplinary team!

Beyond menopause, Jen also supports women with concerns such as digestive health, PCOS, hormonal health and other aspects of overall wellness.

Her approach complements the medical care we provide, offering women additional options, education and individualized support.

For me, integrated care isn’t about choosing conventional medicine or naturopathic medicine.

It’s about bringing together the right expertise, guided by evidence, to care for the whole woman.

Stay tuned! I’ll be introducing Jen properly very soon.

And that’s a wrap on The Menopause Society’s 2026 Annual Meeting in San Diego!

What an incredible few days of learning from some of the leading minds in menopause medicine! I’m heading home inspired by the research, discussions, and opportunities to continue improving the care we provide.

A few important takeaways from our final day:

💕 Sexual health — the 7th pillar of lifestyle medicine?

An important discussion today! Female sexual health is about so much more than hormones. Pelvic floor function, relationships, physical and emotional well-being all play a role. Sexual health deserves a much bigger place in women’s healthcare.

💊 Testosterone — let’s stick to the evidence!

Despite what we hear on social media, the only established evidence-based indication for testosterone therapy in women is hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD), or low libido, that is bothersome.

We simply don’t have sufficient evidence to recommend it for energy, brain fog, muscle building, or longevity.

😴 Sleep matters — and we have effective treatments!

Sleep disturbances are common during menopause, but not every sleep problem is hormonal.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) is a first-line, evidence-based treatment for chronic insomnia, with benefits that can persist long after treatment ends.

And I’m delighted that Dr. Jen Pilon offers CBT-I right here at The Menopause Clinic!

💜 Bringing the evidence home!

Through our Menopaus Continuous Care Membership’s monthly interactive Zoom sessions, we’ll continue exploring the latest research and the topics women are asking about most.

Because menopause education shouldn’t end after one appointment!

And in between all the learning, we’ve managed to squeeze in some wonderful family time exploring San Diego. ❤️

Heading home tomorrow with a full heart from precious family memories and a very full brain from everything I’ve learned!

Looking forward to bringing it all back to The Menopause Clinic.

Two days at The Menopause Society conference, and SO much to unpack! 🧠

A few takeaways I wanted to share with you!

🌿 Lifestyle medicine is HUGE! The six pillars were emphasized: nutrition, physical activity, restorative sleep, stress management, social connection and avoiding risky substances like alcohol.

And importantly, lifestyle medicine complements medical treatment. It doesn’t replace it when treatment is needed.

💪 Muscle matters! Strength training is essential for healthy aging. More protein isn’t always better, with discussions highlighting around 1–1.2 g/kg/day for many adults. And the evidence for weighted vests and vibration devices? Still not convincing for many of the benefits being advertised.

🦴 Estrogen and bones! Estrogen helps protect bone during the menopause transition. But we don’t need to chase specific estrogen levels or routinely monitor them to guide standard menopausal hormone therapy.

✨ And estrogen face creams? Despite the hype, we still lack convincing clinical evidence to recommend topical estrogen as a routine anti-aging facial treatment.

One message keeps coming through loud and clear:

Evidence matters. And good menopause care is about so much more than hormones!

I’m loving every minute of the learning and can’t wait to bring it all back to my patients and team at The Menopause Clinic. 🤍

🦴 A little behind the scenes from San Diego! ☀️

The Menopause Society’s 2026 Annual Meeting is getting underway, and today I’m diving into all things BONE HEALTH! 🦴

And yes, I’m genuinely excited about spending the day learning more about osteoporosis, bone health and healthy aging!

Here’s something I wish more women knew…

We can lose bone faster during the menopause transition, often without even realizing it.

No symptoms. No warning signs. And sometimes, the first indication of osteoporosis is a fracture.

It’s one of the reasons I’m so passionate about menopause medicine.

Because menopause care is about so much more than hormones and hot flashes.

It’s about protecting our bones, maintaining muscle strength, staying active and helping women remain healthy and independent for decades to come.

I’m looking forward to bringing new knowledge and ideas back to my patients and our wonderful team at The Menopause Clinic.

Because I don’t just want women to feel better today. I want them to be strong and healthy for all the years ahead. 🤍

You’ve tried magnesium. Melatonin. Every sleep tip on Instagram. And you’re STILL not sleeping.

Sound familiar?

Sleep difficulties are incredibly common during perimenopause and menopause.

But here’s something many women don’t realize…

Sometimes, insomnia becomes a problem of its own.

Even when the original trigger improves, your brain can develop patterns that make falling asleep or staying asleep difficult.

And another supplement isn’t necessarily going to fix that.

Meet CBT-I — Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia.

It’s one of the most effective, evidence-based treatments for chronic insomnia and is recommended as a first-line treatment.

And no, it’s not just another list of sleep hygiene tips!

CBT-I uses practical strategies to help you rebuild healthier sleep patterns, change unhelpful sleep habits and address the worry that often comes with sleepless nights.

🤍 We’re excited to offer CBT-I right here at The Menopause Clinic with Dr. Jen Pilon, ND.

Because better menopause care isn’t always about another prescription or supplement.

Sometimes, it’s about finding the right treatment for the right problem.

✨ Ready to sleep better?

Book an appointment with Dr. Jen to explore whether CBT-I is right for you.

In-person and virtual appointments available.

🌸 World Menopause Day | Somewhere Above the Clouds ✈️🤍

Today is World Menopause Day, and I’m on my way to San Diego for The Menopause Society’s 2026 Annual Meeting, with my ever-supportive family by my side. ❤️

I honestly couldn’t think of a more fitting way to spend today!

When I started The Menopause Clinic, I had one goal: to help change the way women experience healthcare during midlife.

Because women deserve more than being told their symptoms are normal or simply part of getting older.

They deserve answers, options, and healthcare professionals who continue to learn as the evidence evolves.

Menopause medicine is constantly advancing, and I’m so excited to spend the coming days learning from researchers and colleagues who share this passion.

And behind every big dream is a family making sacrifices, cheering you on, and believing in you, even on the days you doubt yourself.

I couldn’t do any of this without mine. ❤️

As we celebrate World Menopause Day, I’m reminded of just how far we’ve come, but also how much work there is still to do.

Awareness is important. But awareness needs to translate into better care for women.

And that’s exactly what we’re working towards at The Menopause Clinic.

Happy World Menopause Day!

With love from somewhere above the clouds,

Dr. Brooks

Yesterday, we introduced you to ExoMind. Today, let’s show you what it’s all about!

We’ve talked about hormones, sleep, physical health and the changes that come with menopause.

But what about our brains?

One of the things I find most fascinating about medicine is how much we’re still learning about the brain’s ability to adapt and change.

And that’s what makes technologies like ExoMind so interesting!

✨ Non-invasive
✨ No needles
✨ No surgery
✨ Uses magnetic stimulation to influence brain activity

At The Menopause Clinic, we’re excited to bring innovative technology into our approach to mental wellbeing.

Because caring for women through midlife means caring for the whole person. 🤍

Curious about ExoMind?

Our team would love to tell you more about how it works and whether it might be appropriate for you.

🧠 Your brain can change. Even during menopause. 🤍

Mood changes. Feeling overwhelmed. Brain fog. Not quite feeling like yourself.

Sound familiar?

During menopause, changing hormones, poor sleep and stress can all affect how we feel.

But here’s something fascinating…

Your brain has an incredible ability to adapt and change. It’s called neuroplasticity.

🌿 Think of your brain like a garden.

Some pathways become well-worn and familiar. Others aren’t used as often.

Think of ExoMind as a gardener giving those pathways a little extra attention.

Using gentle magnetic pulses, ExoMind stimulates certain areas of the brain, encouraging changes in how brain cells communicate.

It’s a non-invasive technology we’re excited to introduce as part of our approach to mental wellness.

Because taking care of your brain matters just as much as taking care of your body. 🤍

Meet Sasha. 🤍

Sometimes the people who understand our patients best are the ones who have walked a similar path themselves.

And Sasha is one of those people.

Sasha Krall, LPN, MMHPC, MSCP, brings more than 25 years of nursing experience to The Menopause Clinic, with a career spanning acute care, palliative care, infectious disease, interventional radiology and cancer care.

But what makes Sasha’s journey into menopause medicine so special to me is that before she joined our team, she was one of my patients.

Like so many women, Sasha experienced the frustration of navigating menopause without feeling heard or fully understood.

That experience changed the direction of her career.

She went on to pursue additional training in menopause medicine through The Menopause Society and the International Menopause Society, along with specialized education in menopause and mental health through Bria.

Today, Sasha brings both her clinical experience and her personal understanding of menopause to the women we care for.

You’ll meet her during nursing intake appointments, follow-up visits, treatment consultations, and when receiving treatments such as Emsella and ExoMind.

But what I appreciate most about Sasha is her genuine passion for helping women feel heard, understood and empowered to take an active role in their health.

And because I want you to know the person behind the scrubs…

Outside the clinic, Sasha loves camping with her husband, teenage daughter and their two Golden Retrievers, Lizzy and Winston. She’s happiest outdoors, gardening, hosting barbecues or fishing, although apparently catching a fish is optional! 😂🎣

Sasha, I’m so grateful your journey brought you to our clinic, first as a patient and now as part of our team.

We’re incredibly lucky to have you. 🤍

“I just don’t feel like myself anymore.” 🤍

I hear these words from women in my office almost every day.

Sometimes it’s anxiety they’ve never experienced before. Sometimes it’s irritability, low mood, brain fog, or feeling completely overwhelmed by everyday life.

And often, they’re wondering whether it’s menopause, stress, or something else entirely.

The truth is, it isn’t always straightforward.

Hormonal changes during perimenopause can influence mood. Poor sleep, night sweats and the demands of midlife can make things even harder.

But not every mental health concern is caused by menopause. And not every woman needs hormone therapy.

What women do need is to be heard, taken seriously, and offered appropriate support.

At The Menopause Clinic, mental wellbeing is an important part of how we care for women.

This week, we’re introducing some of the wonderful people and services supporting that care.

Because mental health isn’t separate from menopause health.

It’s part of it. 🤍
