Youth Leader Training - Saskatoon and area | Special Olympics Canada

We have some Youth Leader Training Opportunities happening in Saskatoon and Regina!πŸ˜ƒ Youth Leaders teach our community Active Start and FUNdamentals programs for our youth ages 2-12. Youth Leaders will be trained, free of charge, in Fundamental Movement Skills (FMS) a National Coaching Certification Association (NCCP) 4-hour course, and Coaching Young Athletes (CYA) another NCCP 4 hour course.

If Saskatoon numbers do not warrant their own training, they will be asked to attend the Regina training.

The 15th Annual Saskatchewan Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics for Special Olympics Truck Convoy was an incredible success.

With generous sponsors, incredible volunteers and, of course, our big hearted truck drivers, over $30,000 was raised for Special Olympics programs in our province.

Greg, along with his brother Graeme came up with a goal to encourage other Special Olympics Saskatchewan athletes to get out and active, while also raising funds and awareness for Special Olympics Saskatchewan! With the help of Farm Credit Canada and the George Reed Foundation, this has became a reality!

General information

Special Olympics Saskatchewan (S0S) is recognized as the Provincial Sport Governing Body for athletes with an intellectual disability in Saskatchewan by the Provincial Office, under direction of the Board of Directors to: * Establish policies, procedures and standards for SOS in accordance with the policies, procedures and standards set by Special Olympics Canada (SOC), to ensure quality program delivery, to protect the name of Special Olympics and to ensure finanial integrity at all levels. * Establish committees as required. * Conduct review of community programs as required. * Develop and maintain community support programs which include financial and technical support. * Approve and sanction the use of the SOS logo, name and symbols of the organization. * Act as a liasion with the appropriate ministries of the provincial and federal government, national agencies and sport governing bodies. * Assume sole responsibility for communication with SOC and undertake to communicate the needs, interests, and concerns of SOS. * Approve and oversee Provincial Games and organize team for National Games. * Promote communication with athletes, coaches, volunteers, staff and sponsors of SOS. * Seek opportunities for the promotion and sponsorship of SOS at the Provincial Level.
